Pain. Blinding and gut-wrenching agony, that is what a mating ceremony would forever remind me of. Ryker was right, it did hurt, it hurt more than anything I had ever been forced to endure, and my body couldn't cope. I had passed out before The Dragon King had even finished marking me.

Fire. That's how he branded me as his, burning his magic into my skin.

I look down at myself in the long mirror, a fresh but healing bite of the right side of my neck and a healed over burn on my left. They had marked me for all the world to see.

I belonged to them now.

Tears pooled in my eyes and slid down my cheeks, I was so afraid that I might look different or even feel nothing like myself. But I was still weak, a stupid Fae who let her guard down and got captured.

My black hair and pointed ears were a painful reminder of my family, of what my mother had done. This was all her fault. She had caused the world to become as it was

now.

Yes, she didn't know she would be murdered, and she certainly wasn't alone in her choice. But she and the others had caused so much suffering and even more death.

The world was destroyed because my kind trusted the wrong immortal. The Dragon King.

The very creature I am now mated to.

Or one of them, but the other isn't much better, Maddox, the King of hellhounds. How many of my kind had been torn apart by a hellhound? How many humans had been slaughtered since the last day of mankind?

I leave the bathroom, angrily wiping away the tears that continued to fall and looking around for the second time.

It wasn't the room I was in when I first arrived, this one was full of grandeur. Gold and >nver,"a ̃crúsettiúin' 'or forurtles uttartcostinorettarrantle money tauriiriny vurulé, ar dressing table and room for two men.

A bed that was meant for three people, not one.

Yet, it was all in soft colours, violets and yellows, a stark contrast to the other rooms I had seen. Had they chosen these colours to try and make me more comfortable?

I guess it sorta worked. I didn't hate it.

Yellow had always been a favourite shade of mine.

I didn't know what time it was, or where they were, but I knew I couldn't just sit around and wait for them. I was restless, and I needed to know that Miya was alive.

I needed to know that they kept their end of the deal.

I stumble into the wardrobe, pulling out one of the many pairs of silk Pjs, a soft blue colour and climbing into them.

I didn't think I would be able to leave this place, so theirs no point in trying to dress for the weather, not when I won't see it.

I pull a white jumper over my head and step into some black slippers before walking towards the door and trying to pull it open.

To my surprise it opened, though what I didn't expect was the three hellhounds staring

at me from the other side of the door.

"My queen." The three said in unison, bowing.

Well, that's different.

"Where are Maddox and Ryker?" I ask, ignoring their posture.

"They are both busy with work, why don't we escort you to the dining hall? You must

be starving." Said the one closest to me, he was a hellhound, I could tell.

Yet he had violet eyes instead of black, was that common? All the others I had seen had black eyes.

"Sure." I say softly, but I wasn't too sure about the others coming along.

They were looking at me as though I was edible, along with a healthy dose of hatred. They didn't like me, but that was ok, I didn't like them either.

"Follow me." He smiles, speaking to the others in a language I didn't know.

But he sounded angry and I was surprised when they stayed behind, a small smirk making its way onto my lips. I guess violet eyes doesn't like them either.

"What did you say to them?" I ask when we go around a corner, out of sight of the grumpy men.

If you could call them men.

He glances down at me, "I told them that if they treated you with blatant disrespect in

my presence again I would inform the Kings and they would be dealt with harshly."

I laugh, I could really get to like this guy.

"What's your name?"

He was tall like all the others, but he wasn't as muscular, and he didn't seem anywhere

near as cruel. That was a good start.

"Suer." He says, his eyes watching everything that moves.

Did he expect me to be attacked?

I guess I should not be surprised, I was a stranger here in a monster's home, they probably hated me because I was a fae, after all, they killed my kind, I was probably the last.

But that's ok, I hate them all as well, the feeling was very much mutual. It wasn't like I had asked to come here; I was forced.

They had destroyed everything that I had built on that farm and brought me here to

be theirs, even after my very loud protests. And honestly, death didn't seem so bad to

me.

It's not like my life could get any worse.
