The Beginning of The End -
Chapter 44
I drag them both back to Ryker's office, making sure to hold Maddox's hand so that he can't run off and kill more people.
Never thought i would have that probelm. But here we are.
I guess i can make the most of his bloodlust though. It will certianly come in handy when we move to destroy Darax.
"This better not be some sort of plea to let you go, little fae." Maddox warns. "It will never happen."
"It isn't." i promise, closing the door behind us and leaving Suer out in the hall.
It wasn't a problem or trust, because i know Suer would die to protect me.
Just as he was ordered to.
But the fewer people who know about what i am going to reveal the better.
I didn't need a bigger target on my head.
Not yet anyway.
"Then what is this?" Ryker demands, sinking down into his seat at the other side of the desk.
"There is something you don't know about me." I begin, leaning agaisnt the desk as Maddox paces. "Something that might change the war you are planning to start."
Ryker frowns, leaning forward. "Tell me."
Maddox slinks up behind me before i can answer, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me against him. "Will it be something that is useful to the war."
I nod against him, leaning back into his embrace.
I didn't want these creatures to be my mates, but now they are i cannot seem to resist their advances.
My body knows what it wants, even if my mind can't accept it.
I'm not in love with them, I'm not stupid enough for that. I know that they would both tear apart my heart and burn the pieces.
But that didn't mean i couldn't use them for comfort. Or any other need i may have.
So long as i safeguard my true feelings of hate, it'll be fine.
I need them to destroy Darax, but after that, I will get away.
They don't deserve to keep me.
And they never will.
"Don't just stand there." The dragon King growls, his eyes darkening. "Tell us already."
"I can manipulate anything around me, move it." I say, keeping my eyes on the book
shelf to my left. "Crush it and Bend it. But it doesn't just work on objects."
"What are you trying to say?" Maddox says, though half of it is mumbled as he dips his head into my hair.
How do i even begin to explain myself?
My father never even knew the extent of my power.
He knew i could move anything, including people.
But what he didn't know, what no one knows, is that i can control them too.
I can make anyone do anything that i want with a flick of my wrist, it uses a lot of
strength and power to hold it for more than a few seconds. But that is because i never allowed myself to practice. It isn't a nice power.
But i believe it will help destroy Darax and anyone who stands with him.
i lean back against Maddox, looking up at the celing, my voice low and soft. "I can control more than objects, i can control people too."
Ryker scoffs, shaking his head as though i just said something stupid. "Yeah, we know. We have seen you throw people, Maddox has felt it first hand."
I growl, slowly losing my temper.
He wasn't listening.
"No, that is not what i mean." I say, leaning forward as i cross my arms. "I can make a person do anything i choose with a single thought."
This time it is Maddox who scoffs, "Not possible."
i move away from his embrace, turning to look at them both with fire in my eyes.
"You don't believe me." I state, already knowing their answer. "So why don't i show you?"
They laugh, Ryker leaning back in his chair whilst Madox climbs onto the desk and crosses his legs. They both look relaxed.
But they won't be for long.
Once i do this, there is not turning back.
I am going to expose the darkest part of me. They will either accept it or slap another anklet around my leg.
I didn't know which, not for sure.
I hold out my hand, aiming my power at Ryker, his eyes go blank as my magic clicks
into place, taking over his conscious mind.
He looks lifeless, almost like a corpse. But once i let my power go, he will go back to normal.
He will know what i have done, he will feel the invasion to his mind.
But i want him to feel it, i want him to know what i can do.
I use his body like it is my own, making him lean across the desk and grab the sharp letter opener, slowly swiping it accrpss his flesh, droplets of blood sliding down his hand. It wasn't enough to cause serious damage.
But even though he hasn't reacted, he will feel the pain. His mind will know it wasn't what it wanted to do.
"What are you doing Ryker?" Maddox asks, "You better not turn that thong on me.@ "He can't answer you." i say, my eyes glowing.
Maddox glances between Ryker and me, his eyes going wide at the edges. He has realised what i am doing. Yet he can't accept it.
I understand.
It isn't every day that a fae uses the dragon king as a puppet.
I release him slowly, making sure i leave his mind as i found it.
If you pull back too fast, it will leave a mental scar.
I drove someone insane the first time i tried it. Not on purpose. It was just a
consequence of not knowing what i was doing.
The poor man died however.
Ryker's body sagged forward when i let him go, his eyes wide as he looks down at his
hand, I can't tell if he is in awe or if he is afraid.
Maybe he is feeling both.
Maybe he will kill me.
"You are amazing." Ryker slurs, watching as his own power heals his hand.
Maddox stands, patting Ryker on the shoulder before he walks towards me. Eyes wide.
He pulls me into him, peppering my head in kisses.
"Such a powerful little fae, i can't wait to see the destruction we can cause."
Ryker smirks from his seat, "You are going to win us this war before it even starts."
I smile back, releived that they are happy.
Looks like i get to live another day.
