"I see you too kissed and made up." Maddox laughs, standing a few feet from us as Ryker pulls his trousers back on.

A blush lights up my face, I don't know why I feel so dirty, he's my mate, we should have sex. So then, why does it feel like I have betrayed myself?

Ryker helps me back into what is left of my dress, not saying a word, does he regret it?

I hope he doesn't. I hope that this means we are back on the same page. I don't want to fight with him anymore.

I'm tired of fighting with him.

We got past all of that once, I don't want to go back there. I don't want to be a prisoner anymore, I want to be an equal.

I walk over to Maddox and step into his embrace, allowing him to show me affection in

a different way. We've come so far him and I. From enemies to lovers I guess, kind of like the books I used to read.

I hated him at first, I hated them both, but my feelings are changing. I don't want to hurt them anymore. Not like before.

"What's on your mind little fae, you are never this quiet." Maddox says, holding me a little tighter, "did he hurt you?"

Ryker turns towards us, wanting the answer to the same question. He looks worried. As though it matters to him that I enjoyed myself as much as he did.

"No." I say slowly, "he didn't hurt me."

"Then what is it?" Ryker asks, slightly irritated, "why are you so upset?"

"I'm not sure." I admit with a heavy sigh, "I just feel like we are always either arguing or fucking, we never tell each other how we feel, and you never treat me as an equal." I move away from Maddox and wrap my arms around my middle, "you both say that I am your queen but you don't treat me as though I am allowed an opinion, so which is it? Am I your equal? Or am I your prisoner?"

"You are an equal." Ryker says, "but your word is not final. Not like ours." He steps closer to me, his frame towering over me, "you are important to us, more than you know, but you have to give it time Elora. We cannot change the way things are done in one day." He leans down, kissing the top of my head, "we would do anything to make you happy, but we cannot, not until after the war."

"Are we even at war?" I ask, staring up at him. "Because it doesn't feel like it, I haven't seen one battle, and nothing has happened, when will Darax attack?"

Ryker looks at Maddox, and Maddox steps forward. "There have been battles, love, ones that didn't need you there. We decided that it was safer to keep you here for now."

I turn to him, anger in my eyes, "you are pushing me out aren't you? You don't want my help anymore."

"It isn't like that." Ryker snaps, "all we want is to keep you safe."

"But you said that you wouldn't win without me!" I shout, throwing my arms in the air. "So which is it? Do you need me or not?"

"Of course we need you." Maddox says, trying to put him arms around me. But I push him away. "We just don't want to risk you being injured; it would distract us from what we need to do."

"When we face Darax on the field of battle, you will be the first to know, and you will be there, with us." Ryker tells me, though I am not quite convinced.

I heave a sigh, I don't want to argue, this will get us nowhere, maybe I just need to trust that they have my best interests in mind.

"Let's take you back to the dining room." Maddox says, gently walking me back towards the house, "you haven't eaten."

I didn't feel like eating, not at all. But I know if I don't they will worry about me even

more.

I don't want them to think that I am weak, because I am not. I survived the harshest of things back when the world ended, and I did it all on my own. With my power.

I AM useful, I know I am.

They should have talked to me before deciding that I cannot be apart of the fighting, I would have showed them what I can do again.

I would have made them see that I can do it, with of without help.

I have taken out many creatures that come from this world, I know what I am doing. I know how to hurt them.

I've killed too, more times than I can count, all because I had no choice. It was my life

for a long time. It was either fight or die, and I chose to fight then, just like I choose to fight now.

They need me. Just as much as I need them.

Darax is good at deceiving people, I am good at killing them. I know that I can win if they give me a chance.

"I'll eat." I say. "But you must promise to include me in the next fight."

Maddox says, turning to Ryker who shakes his head.

"Don't tell me that I am safer here because it isn't true." I growl. "I am safer out there, fighting with you. I don't want to be left here to worry for your lives. I need this."

Ryker pulls my arm, stopping me from walking, "why do you want this so bad Elora?" He asks, "you'd be much safer away from the fighting, we cannot protect you when we are on the battlefield."

"I don't need you to protect me!" I shout, shoving him, hard, what I need is to kill Darax, he destroyed my world, Ryker, tore it apart and left it to burn. He is the reason that I have no family. All of them are dead, and it is because he ordered it." Maddox smiles, "I love it when you get fierce." He turns to Ryker, "she is right, she has as much of a reason to want him dead as we do. Let her fight. She's strong enough."

"She is just a girl!" Ryker shouts, "she cannot possibly survive the kind of battle we have to face."

I walk up to him, my chest against his, "would you like me to prove how I can do it? Because you will not like it."

Ryker growls. "Do not threaten me."

"Then listen to what I am saying to you!" I scream, Godwin f more and more angry. "I can do this. You have to trust me."

Ryker stares down at me. "Fine."

I stop in my tracks, my eyes going wide, "did you just agree?"

He nods once, fast, "I did." He says, "but you should know that once we make it to the battle, you will be on your own, you cannot distract us from what we have to do. If you are hurt, we will not be able to get to you until it is over, and if you die. We will be weakened and the war will be lost."

I gulp a breath, he's right, if I do this, there is no going back. It is either win. Or die.

But I know that I can win.

"I'll survive." I say coldly, "I always have."
