The Divine Wolf... or? -
Chapter 141: Weapons!
Contrary to Ark's beliefs, Ephine wasn't bothered by the fact that she was naked. Just like her son, she wasn't able to see something wrong with it. Ark was awkward to say the least, this situation wasn't something he ever expected to experience. Since she had no idea how she was supposed to get dressed herself, Ark had to help her thoroughly, which was a new experience for him.
He was a little excited at the prospect of them being so close, but he quickly calmed down. A minute or so later, all three of them were dressed, and they were indistinguishable to other humans. At least if you only looked at the surface. Considering how they acted, it would be hard for anyone to not be suspicious of them.
Fortunately for them, these new bodies came with some basic memories of how to operate them, and so, they didn't need to figure out how to walk and so forth.
Well even if they knew how to do everything, it would still take them some time to get used to these forms. Ark wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do now that they had gotten clothes, maybe they wanted to try their new bodies out a little?
As that thought crossed his mind, Ark realised that it was probably for the better if they knew how to fight in their new shapes, at least to an acceptable degree.
As he looked at them fully dressed, Ark realised just how good these two looked. Atar was a handsome young guy, and even if he was only a pup, he looked to be around 12 or 13 years old in his human form, which didn't really fit with the way he acted. His figure was rather slender, but Ark could still feel an almost terrifying amount of strength hidden within.
His hair was snow-white, just like his mothers, but unlike her green mesmerising eyes, his were a clear blue colour.
He was sure that they would have to use these forms later down the road if they wanted to be with him, and since that was the case, they needed to be able to protect themselves in these forms. Besides, Ark was pretty sure that they would've gotten some sort of power-up from this whole spectacle. It wouldn't be limited to some human forms, right?
"Uhmm, what do you guys say about testing out these new bodies of yours? Do you guys want to try and go hunting?"
"Sure!"
"Yaaaay, hunting!"
Both of them seemed excited at the prospect of trying out their new powers, as they knew more than Ark about just how powerful they had really gotten. In their human forms, it wasn't like they could fight with their teeth and claws as they had been doing before, and so, Ark decided that it was probably for the better if he armed them with weapons that suited them.
The only problem was that he had no idea which weapon would suit each of them best.
From what he had seen so far, Atar seemed to be an aggressive fighter, and liked to be up close with his opponents, whereas Ephine was way more reserved, and would rather fight from a distance. After some consideration, Ark came up with suitable weapons for each of them, and he called them over.
"Ephine, Atar, come here for a second!"
They both walked a little awkwardly to him, and he only smiled as he saw them walk all wobbly towards him. Atar arrived a little before his mother, and he sat down heavily upon arrival, taking a deep breath, it seemed like it harder for him to move in this new shape than he originally thought.
Unlike her son, Ephine wasn't as hasty, and she took her time carefully walking forward, slowly growing a little more accustomed with each step. As she was about to arrive without fault, she grew a little overexcited, and she fell over as a result. Ark wasn't just about to let her fall, and his body reacted in pure instinct.
With an arm wrapped around her waist, Ark quickly pulled her body towards his own to prevent her from hitting the ground.
Like this, they were suddenly facing each other, only a couple of inches between their faces. Ark felt his face burn, and he quickly let go once Ephine had her feet stable on the ground again. This time, even Ephine felt a little embarrassed, but also oddly happy for some reason. She didn't really get why, but she quickly put it behind her.
As for Ark, his heart was beating wildly, to the point where it even started to concern him. [Why the hell is my heart beating so fast? Am I getting sick? There's no way right? How would I suddenly just get sick?]
Before he could start to worry, his heartbeat slowly returned to normal, and his concern swiftly disappeared as swiftly as it had come. He had never felt like that before, and he was almost beginning to get scared. Fortunately, it disappeared quickly, and he didn't have to worry anymore. Since both Ephine and Atar were in front of him now, he retrieved two weapons from his spatial bag.
The first thing he retrieved from his spatial bag was a white bow. This bow was crafted from a particular type of white wood, and it was exquisitely crafted. He quickly handed it over to Ephine, before he retrieved the next weapon. Atar's weapon was actually a pair of black gloves. Since Atar didn't know how to put them on, Ark quickly helped him before he explained his thought process a little.
"Considering how you both fight, I think these weapons are good choices for the both of you!"
"Atar, since I doubt that you would be able to quickly learn how to wield a weapon effectively, I decided that it was probably better to give you a simple weapon that suited your aggressive fighting style."
"Ephine, since you usually fight from a distance and with magic, I think this elegant bow is a good fit for you. With your reserved way of fighting, a bow suits you quite well. With magic, you can easily conjure up a multitude of different arrows as well, so there won't be a need for any arrows!"
Atar didn't really pay much attention to Ark's explanation, he was just really excited about his new weapon, and his new body for that matter. As for Ephine, she quietly absorbed everything Ark was saying, and she actually quite liked the bow she was given. Not only was it elegant, but it truly did fit her.
Not only was it white like her hair, but she was just happy in general upon receiving her very first weapon. Anything that could amplify her strength was a good thing.
Ark didn't really need a weapon, but just for look's sake, he attached a sword to his waist in case they ran into other humans, as he didn't want to have all of his cards out in the open. Now that all three of them had their weapons equipped and ready, they set off to test their newfound strength.
