Chapter 173: A new skill?
[Due to host reaching 200 wisdom and having a spatial affinity, host has obtained the skill: Blink]
Hearing this voice telling him he had gotten a new skill, Ark immediately used inspect on it to see what it was.
Blink [Lv.1]
"An ability granted to the host because of his spatial affinity. Allows the host to instantly blink to an area within 10 meters of himself."
As he read this, Ark was at first a little excited, and then he was a little befuddled. First of all, he didn't know that his affinities could actually affect which skills he got, but now that he did, he was a little excited. This skill might seem pretty useless for now, but it could come in handy in the future when it levelled up.
Since he needed to test it out before actually using it in a fight, Ark quietly chanted the name to himself.
A purple light seemed to come out of nowhere and instantly twisted Ark into nothingness, before he instantly reappeared face-first on the ground 8 meters away. Even though he felt embarrassed by his antics, he also felt excited over the prospect of this new skill!
The feeling itself was a little sickening, but just appearing somewhere out of the blue would be a great way to surprise someone during a fight!
Since he needed to learn how to control this skill before he ever tried to use it seriously, Ark continued to use it over and over, challenging himself by trying to land on branches or trying to stand on his toes when he came out. Though it was hard, and he failed miserably plenty of times, he didn't give up, and continued to perfect his use of the skill.
After almost an entire hour of just using it repeatedly, Ark could hear the voice announcing that the skill had levelled up to level 3.
During just an hour of use, it had already levelled up twice, and Ark could now teleport 30 meters away. Though it sounded like a lot, it wasn't actually that much. It took a little while to activate the skill, and if Ark was just running at full speed with cellular mana infusion, then he would probably be about the same speed as if he continuously used the blink skill.
As it levelled up, the skill also demanded more and more mana, and Ark could already figure out that this skill was going to use up a lot of his mana in the future.
Since his mana pool was basically completely empty after an entire hour of using the skill, Ark decided to do something else for a while. He had turned back into his wolf form when he had used the skill, as he needed to be able to use it in both forms, and he didn't want to waste too much of his human form's time. He wanted to be able to use it to make conversation after all.
If he couldn't talk with Thufrat for example, then his days would become a little duller.
It was still fairly early in the morning, but everyone was already awake. Ephine and Atar were sitting outside the cave and were just playing around at the moment, and Thufrat was nowhere to be seen. Since it was morning, he was just out and about, hunting for some breakfast. Ark wished that he had gone with him, but he was a bit too late.
Since he had done nothing better to do at the moment, he just played around with Ephine and Atar for a bit, before Thufrat returned.
With a deer hoisted over his shoulder, Thufrat hummed a happy tune whilst he walked back over to the three wolves. As he started to prepare the meat, he left about half of it raw and untouched, which Atar and Ark happily devoured. Ephine quite liked to eat it cooked, as she enjoyed the tastes of various flavours and spices that Thufrat used when he cooked.
Atar still liked eating everything raw, as he always had been up until now, and Ark didn't really know himself.
For his entire life, he had eaten everything cooked, but recently, his taste for raw meat had manifested, and he couldn't exactly get rid of it, and it wasn't something bad either way. For now, he just ate whatever he got, whether it was cooked or not, he would enjoy it either way. After everyone ate their fill, they just lazed around for a bit, a little unsure of what to do.
After pondering for a while, Ark decided to ask Thufrat about the angel's mana crystal, and what he should do about it. Since he couldn't speak to him in his wolf form, he just blinked away, put on some clothes, and blinked back in his human from. Though they were surprised initially, as soon as they saw that it was Ark, they all calmed down.
He never stopped surprising them with what he could do, so they had grown used to it at this point.
"You have any good idea what I can do with this?"
As he said that, Ark tossed Thufrat a large glowing amber crystal, which he promptly caught. After looking at it for a few seconds, Thufrat turned to Ark. "You don't want to absorb it?" He tossed it back to Ark.
"I wanted Ephine to absorb it, but I'm scared of what potential hidden dangers there might be. You think I could trade it for some other mana crystal? Or just sell it at a good price to buy another one?" Ark put it away in his spatial bag.
"Well I think it depends on what you want, but most big cities would probably be eager to buy it, as it is quite a high-quality mana crystal after all. Whether or not they have any mana crystals that would interest you is beyond me, but it is worth a shot."
Since they were all bored either way, Thufrat's idea sounded great! Ephine and Atar were both excited to visit an actual human city, as they had never been to one. Well, Ephine was really excited, and Atar was mostly excited because his mom was, he didn't really know what was exciting, but he just went with the flow.
Since they had nothing else to do at the moment, they decided that they could just do it immediately, they had no reason to wait after all. The nearest big city wasn't too close, so they decided to travel in their wolf forms until they were close enough. If they tried to travel the entire way in their human forms, then they wouldn't have enough time at all.
With a beautiful day to accompany them, they started their travels almost immediately. Atar calmed down fairly quickly, as his initial excitement dropped when he noticed that all they were doing was just walking. The peaceful nature wasn't something that he really enjoyed, and he just wanted to play around all day. In stark contrast, everyone else quite enjoyed the peaceful walk in the forest.
They were all adults, and after the stressful situation they had run into the day before, they were all feeling at ease currently.
