The Ember In The Dark
Ch. 6

Lunch ended without a hitch and I had a free period after. I headed to the library, curious about theselection here. I walked through the aisle trying to replace something of interest, but I didn't seeanything.

"I'm not sure you'll replace anything here for you." His husky voice rang in my ear. “I guess you have afree period this hour too."

I turned to replace those sweet chocolate eyes staring at me. I took a step back, trying to keep mydistance. Mate bond or not, I'm not gonna let it overcome me. I just met him today, even if everycell in my body is screaming I need him.

"Well since you seem to think you know my style. What do you suggest?" I crossed my arms andarched my eyebrow at him. He just gave me this sexy crooked smile, his hands shoved deep in hispockets.

"Follow me." He whispered and my curiosity peaked too much not to follow.

He led me to the back of the library. A secluded spot from everyone else. Suddenly I questionedwhy I followed him. He walked to the corner and looked around before pulling a bookcase forwardlike a door. Oh my gosh a secret passage! I got giddy with excitement.

"Come on." He smiled at me and my heart fluttered.

I entered and he closed the way behind him. He checked his watch, before leading me down thedark corridor. Normally I wouldn't be able to see in the dark, but now that I have my wolf it seemsthat I can.

"F*ck, I forgot. I'm sorry. I'm going to grab your hand so I can guide you in the dark, okay?" Heasked.

He still doesn't know I have my wolf, and I'm not sure I want to tell him. He took my silence aspermission and took my hand in his. His hands were rough and calloused. I can tell he works hardby these hands.

The feeling of his skin touching mine, sent my cells bursting with pleasure. My heart was flutteringand the butterflies in my stomach were swarming around. I took a deep breath trying to calmmyself, but it didn't help. All I ended up doing was taking a deep breath of his intoxicating scent.We walked a short way down. I could tell we were going underground as it started to get cooler. Weapproached a room with dim lighting, and that's when Toni let go on my hand. I felt myself relaxwhen he did. I felt like myself again, not like a crazy hormonal teen.

"Welcome to our hidden supernatural section. We have books here just for us. Go ahead and lookaround." He told me.

The room was round with tall bookshelves on every wall. The books ranged in age and in species. Itwasn't as great as the library at home, but pretty impressive for where it was.

"This is nice." I told him as I continued looking at the books.

"Glad you like it." He sat in the chair in the center of the room. I could feel his eyes on me, piercingthe skin on my back.

I turned to look at him. He didn't look away, just met my gaze. Those eyes of his melt me likechocolate.

"So, what's your plan?" I asked him, making my way towards him.

"My plan?” He leaned his head on his fingertips.

"Yes, to get me to accept you." I smirked teasingly.

"Oh Ember. I promise I'm going to have you swooning over me soon. I'm really quite a catch youknow?" I could tell he was only joking. He wasn't this arrogant.

"Oh really?” I sat in the chair in front him.

"Obviously not." He laughed. "I'm going to let you get to know me. I'll probably pester youeveryday. You'll see me so much you won't be able to remember a time I wasn't present. I'll slowlybreak down that wall of yours. I've been told I'm quite the romantic, so be ready to beromanticized." He winked at me and I laughed.

"Got it." I nodded my head.

"We better get back, 6th period will be starting soon.” He held his hand out for me again.

"Okay." I took his hand, feeling giddy as his skin touched mine again.

We made it out without anyone seeing us. The bell rang right as Toni closed the bookcase door."I'll see you 8th period." He told me.

He grabbed my wrist pulling me tightly against his chest. His nose inhaled my scent at the nape ofmy neck. I froze stuff for a moment, trying not to be overcome by the mate bond. Feeling his faceso close to my marking spot sent shivers down my spine. He pulled away quickly.

"Sorry. I needed that to hold me over until I see you again.” He left before I could say anything.

It took me a moment to collect myself and head to my 6th period. Nothing exciting there. Just somehuman history I really have no interest in. After that was 7th period which seemed to fly by quickly.
