Chapter 36: The Nest of Fermi (2)

Kai's iron sword charged straight toward the Rogue.

"I-I dodged it!"

Duncan twisted his upper body and barely avoided the attack! He then looked at the warrior in front of him, tilting his head.

Wait a minute, this guy's equipment looks... kind of familiar.

While his mind was momentarily elsewhere, his opponent's back kick landed in the pit of his stomach.

"Kugh...!"

"Ah, that feels refreshing."

After saying so, the opponent then charged toward the Wizard.

"Flame Arrow... Kugh!"

Kai marvelously interrupted the casting!

Seeing this, the tank, Lark, yelled, "Damn it! I'm busy dealing with the Skeletons! How is it possible that all three of you can't deal with that guy?"

Duncan, coming back to his senses at Lark’s shout, got up.

"Wait, that equipment... It's from that crazy guy from two days ago!" Duncan finally remembered Kai! "You bastard! You’re done now!"

Filled with rage, Duncan kicked off the ground and charged at Kai. "Hey! This guy is the guy who picked a fight with us two days ago!"

"Oh? Now that you mention it..."

"Yeah, it really is!"

"Die!"

"No." Kai easily deflected Duncan's attack with his iron sword.

Clang!

The clash of iron and dagger sparked flames, and Kai's left hand reached through the sparks, stretching forward.

"Take this. Holy Explosion!"

A white beam shot out from Kai's left hand, hitting Duncan right on the head and slamming him into the wall.

“Ahhhhh!”

Amazing attack power that caused his HP to fall by 30% in an instant! Additionally, they were already low on health from hunting Paras.

As Duncan instantly entered a near-death state, Kai's eyes lit up.

Time to finish this for sure.

In battle, many factors like skill, level, and items mattered. However, morale was something that couldn’t be ignored. If one believed they couldn’t win, their actions slowed down and their strength diminished!

I'll crush his spirit completely.

So that they wouldn't dare come at him again!

While Kai used the Supernova, Lark ordered the Wizard, "Don't go for long casts but use shorter ones to catch him first!"

"Oh okay. Fire Field!"

As the Wizard used his skill, intense flames erupted near the ground where Kai was. The flames quickly spread, turning into a prison.

"I did it! That should keep him in there for a..." The Wizard's words trailed off as his eyes widened. "Wh-what? Where did this bastard go?"

Kai was nowhere to be seen inside the Fire Field!

It wasn’t just the Wizard who was taken aback.

Wait, did I miss his movement? But how could I? I’m the assassin?

The party's second Rogue was also a player of the assassin class. Assassins specialized in pinpointing enemies' locations and silently killing them!

Just what level is this guy?

While the assassin was internally wailing, Kai had already positioned himself behind them. This was possible due to the significant investment in Strength and the use of Supernova!

Let’s end this in fifteen seconds!

If not, Kai himself would be in danger.

Kai, springing off the floor, attacked the Rogue's head, heart, and both legs in an instant.

Slash, slash, slash!

"Eugh!"

[Target afflicted by Blind.]

[Target afflicted by Slow.]

[Target afflicted by Immobilize.]

It was truly the speed of light!

The Rogue kept hearing notifications of damage. However, that was only for a moment. All those messages disappeared in an instant, leaving only one.

[You have died.]

A short but intense message!

The logged-out assassin irritably threw his headset and muttered, "Who the hell is that bastard?"

***

The operation time for Supernova was up to twenty-two seconds. However, for Kai, who also used buffs on the Gnoll Skeletons, the maximum was fifteen seconds. Within those fifteen seconds, Kai spent four seconds successfully eliminating an assassin.

Next is the Wizard!

Kai, equipped with the Armor of the Undead, moved faster than the Wizard's dynamic vision, appearing as if darkness was moving.

Slash!

"H-hngh...!?"

[Target afflicted by Silence.]

The Wizard, grabbing onto his split throat, opened his eyes wide in disbelief! It was his first time experiencing this, but not for Kai.

I finally get to try what I saw on MewTube like this.

Kai had always been interested in the rankers of MID Online! He never missed famous videos of rankers' duels, and thanks to that, his theoretical knowledge of the game was quite high.

I just hadn't been able to put it into practice myself until now!

Kai, having thrust his fist into the Wizard's stomach, immediately spread his palm.

"Holy Explosion!"

Boom!

Disregarding the height of the ceiling, the Wizard flew high into the air.

"N-no, not possible!”

"Yes, possible."

As the Wizard got pierced by a stalactite on the ceiling and turned into polygons and disappeared, Lark screamed out, "Damn it! You idiots!"

He was facing three strengthened Gnoll Skeletons, so he couldn't help them even if he wanted to.

Meanwhile, Kai rushed toward Duncan, who was in a near-death state after being hit by Holy Explosion.

"Sh-shit..." Duncan, pale-faced, scrambled backward on the ground.

How is this possible!? Our entire party got wiped out by just one guy...!

An embarrassing situation with nowhere to complain! Moreover, they were Chaotic players specialized in PVP. They were skilled in player battles more than anyone else, but they were nothing against Kai's attack power and speed.

"Hmph."

Crack!

"Kugh...!"

Kai, having crushed Duncan's ribs with his heel, noticed the mark of the Crimson Fist guild.

"D-do you know who we are..."

"I do. Crimson Fist. A pathetic guild with only six members."

Kai's iron sword then split the air and lunged into Duncan.

"Kugh...!"

The sword pierced through the Crimson Fist emblem on the man's chest, reaching his heart.

Kai looked at Duncan's face, filled with pain and anger, and smirked. "Relax. It's just a game, isn’t it? Don’t be such a crybaby."

"You bastard... If it hadn't been for your surprise attack... If only my health had been full...!"

Kai cut off his words by slicing his throat before he could finish.

Even after taking down three, Kai still had five seconds left of Supernova! Finally regaining his composure, Kai slowly walked toward his last target, the tank. Step by step. With each step, walking turned into marching, and marching into running.

"Hold him tight!"

At Kai's command, the Gnoll Skeletons grabbed the tank's arms and neck, stretching them out.

"What, what is this? Let go!"

"Good job!"

Click, click, click!

They obeyed like well-behaved puppies.

Kai thrust his iron sword straight into the chest they had exposed.

"Kuuuug..."

"Oh, you're quite tough."

Despite being stabbed in the heart, the tank's health only decreased by 10%. A defense that truly lived up to a tank's name!

"You're better off not seeing what's next for your mental health."

Kai's sword then slashed across the tank's eyes.

The tank, suddenly fallen into darkness, anxiously asked, "H-hey! What are you doing...?"

"It's simple."

Kai simply stabbed his sword into the tank’s heart, withdrew it, and repeatedly stabbed rapidly.

Stab, stab, stab!

"Aghh!"

The tank trembled, not from pain but from psychological fear. Even with his eyes wide open, all he could see was pitch-black darkness. In that state, his arms were tightly held, and something kept stabbing his heart.

"A-aaagh!"

Even though it was just a game, neither the tank nor any ordinary person could be accustomed to experiencing such a thing.

"You'd understand if you had any sense, but I'm kind enough to warn you again." Kai, having plunged his sword into the tank’s heart, said in a cold voice, "Don't mess with me."

"Kuuugh..."

Ultimately, the tank, unable to overcome his fear, felt a sense of relief the moment he was logged out, threw off his headset, and ran to the bathroom, clutching his damp pants.

"Phew!" Kai, removing his helmet and wiping the sweat from his forehead, looked around at the piles of polygons and said with a sense of accomplishment, “Garbage cleaning done!”

***

Inside the Nest of Ferme, in a gloomy space where the floor and ceiling were covered in cobwebs, Kai stood with a dumbfounded expression.

"These guys... utterly hopeless."

The guys he had beaten had given nothing beneficial. Shaking his head, Kai placed the items in front of him into his inventory.

I caught four Chaotic players and there’s only one Rare item?

Expecting at least two Rare items, Kai couldn't help but feel disappointed.

"Well... at least the one Rare item is quite useful."

Kai picked up the Rose Cloak that the tank had been wearing.

[Rose Cloak]

Grade: Rare

Defense: 342

Magical Defense: 319

+2 Strength

+2 Agility

+4 Stamina

A cape often worn by members of the aristocracy. A gorgeous design was created by engraving rose patterns on luxurious fabric.

Durability: 46/91

I should use this.

As someone who didn’t have a cape, Kai really wanted this item! The only downside was that its luxurious appearance didn’t match with the Armor of the Undead, but Kai didn't care as long as it performed well.

Besides, all the guys who had priority on the items from catching Paras are dead, so they're all mine!

Though no Rare items dropped, three Magic items that could sell for a good price at the auction house came out.

"Let’s see..."

Standing up and dusting himself off, Kai glanced at his fully recovered Holy Power while taking a rest.

Perfect condition too.

Now that he had eliminated all the members of the Crimson Fist guild, he was the only person left in this dungeon!

Hehe, this is why one should live a good life.

Living right brought money, treats, dungeons, and as now visible, monsters too.

"Huh?"

Realizing something was off, Kai blinked.

Then he immediately took out his sword and shouted, "W-what!?!"

“Kiiigh!” The monster announced its presence with a scream.

[Fermi’s Feral Spawn LV.61]

Damn, why is such a youngling at such a high level!

"Krriik!"

Fermi’s Spawn didn’t give him time to complain!

Kai struggled to dodge the spit and webs coming at him with a speed that was unlike any Forest Spider.

But I've gotten pretty good at dealing with spiders now.

While diligently dodging, Kai observed the creature. There were two vital spots on a spider. The head and the abdomen! However, aiming for the spider's abdomen, which constantly moved using its eight legs, was pretty much impossible!

So the first step is to cut off the legs to immobilize it!

Slash! Slash!

As always, Kai's sword, after cutting off the creature's legs, aimed at one place.

"The eyes!"

A spider had a total of four pairs of eyes. In other words, eight eyes in total!

Before coming to the Forest of Spiders, Kai had thoroughly read all the posts about spiders on the community forum.

Spiders have eight eyes, but they all have different functions.

For example, the most crucial central pair of eyes was used for discerning the details and size of objects. Additionally, the eyes on the sides served to warn when something approached!

In other words...

Kai's sword slashed through the immobilized spider's eyes. What he cut were the six eyes on the sides!

"Kriik..."

Fermi’s Spawn was greatly taken aback. Unable to discern what was approaching, it had essentially become a fool.

Pshik, pshik!

Monsters felt fear too. The creature frantically shot venom and webs in all directions.

I just have to wait until it stops spazzing.

Kai, sitting at a safe distance, opened the internet window and browsed MewTube to pass the time. It took about three minutes for Fermi’s Spawn to stop spazzing!

Forest Spiders took one minute, but dungeon monsters are indeed different.

Finally standing up, Kai slowly approached the exhausted creature and ended its life.

[+14,185 XP.]

"Good XP, and easy. Sweet."

With a big smile, Kai hummed a tune and moved deeper into the nest.
