Chapter 34:.

“Dude, I need to call my mom now. She’s not back yet. It’s already late, let’s talk next time! Bye.”

William looked at the avatar that had turned dark and felt a sudden surge of disappointment.

“Dad, I’m done eating, can Dad read me stories?”. Sammy was overjoyed, as he would have a mommy very soon.

William sighed as he glanced at Sammy. This is how a five year old should behave. He found it very hard for a child to be more mature than his age.

Suddenly he felt annoyed. How could he replace Sammy’s mother? He pondered deeply.

William saved the game and got up, “Sammy, Daddy will read you stories another day. I have to go out for a while. Be a good boy and go to bed, okay?”.

Sherry was led out of the house by Dan and ended up window shopping. But she didn’t feel like it and felt melancholy walking down the dimly lit street. She didn’t know where her son was and if he had a good life.

Her phone rang and it was Celia, “Where did you go and how could you leave Dan home alone?”

“I’m walking the streets!”. Sherry looked at a disheveled group of people.

“Come home, I’m home, I don’t feel comfortable with Dan home alone!”.

“That’s okay Celia, Dan is a good boy and can take care of himself!”. said Sherry proudly.

“Yes, he really is a good boy, but my heart hurts for him!”. Celia sighed, “Hurry home.”

“Okay!” As she ended the call, someone violently snatched the phone from her.

“Ah!” Sherry screamed in surprise and saw a thief running away from her, “Get him! He’s stolen my phone!

She screamed as she ran after the thief. The phone was expensive and she didn’t want to be in debt again. Sherry desperately chased the thief down the street and attracted the attention of passersby.

A blue Bugatti was driving aimlessly and images of someone running briskly attracted the driver’s attention.

Sherry chased after him and shouted, “Give me back my phone, give me back my phone!”.

The thief quickly ran into a dark alley.

“Hand over your money!” A voice thundered and suddenly four gangsters emerged from the alley. On one side, a burly man with menacing eyes pointed a steel dagger at Sherry.

“Ah…? Sherry was startled, “All of you…”. She hadn’t expected there to be so many thieves in the alley.

“Woman, hand over your money!”.

“No!” Sherry turned to run, but accidentally twisted her ankle. “Ah…”.

Just as she felt herself falling, her waist was grabbed by someone’s arm…. She took a look at the person and was stunned, “Sir …. Mr. Rowland?”

“Who?” The bandit noticed someone entering the alley and became alert.

William pursed his perfect lips and lifted Sherry and dragged her behind him.

“Damn, this man looks handsome:” The bandit gave a glance at the simply dressed Sherry and then looked back at the dashing and handsome William.

“Mr. Rowland, my phone has been stolen” Sherry clutched William’s tailored business suit as if it were her lifeline.

William rolled his eyes – what a situation they were in and this woman was still thinking about her phone!

William glanced at the four robbers, “Isn’t it too early in the morning to rob?”.

“Hey, scum, why do you care if we steal? Empty whatever you have on your body. You don’t look like you have any money,

but you do! You, you came at the right time, hurry up!”. He snorted twice with his nose, waved the dagger and gave William a menacing look.

“Get out of the way!” William turned to Sherry and said with assurance.

“Forget it, forget it, come on! Mr. Rowland, they have a dagger!” Sherry thought it best to run. it was too dangerous since it was four against one!

“We’ll leave after they give you back the phone!”. William turned and faced the four men, “Hand over the phone! Don’t make me repeat myself!”

“Boy, you’re asking for it!” Someone shouted and four of them rushed at him.

William sighed and went on the attack.

The sounds of melee boomed and William quickly attacked and counterattacked the four. After ten minutes,

William wiped the sweat from his head and glared hatefully at the four lying on the ground with swollen and bruised faces, “Hand over the phone!”.

“Er..” The four couldn’t even get up, let alone have the strength to get the phone out.

William glanced at Sherry, “Who stole your phone?”

Sherry was stunned and still dazed from the fight. His quick actions didn’t even ruffle his suit and he didn’t give the impression of being involved in a fight.

Realizing she was dazed, William proceeded to reach for the phone. Sherry came to her senses after something hard dug into her hand and an arm gripped her waist tightly. By this time, she had been shoved into the Bugatti.

William started to smile and his sharp eyes looked up at Sherry, “How are you going to repay me after I saved your life?”

“Er…”. Sherry gave William a puzzled look. She thought about how he moved swiftly and ruthlessly when he fought the robbers. She realized that Mr. Rowland was truly mysterious and terrifying! “Thank you!”

“I’m hurt!” William rolled up his sleeves and revealed a cut on his wrist, but he had intentionally hurt himself for a simple reason which was to let a particular person take the blame!

“Ah, you’re really hurt!” how could she not notice? She saw that his suit was cut, “Mr. Rowland, let’s go to the hospital immediately!” she felt safer if they went to the hospital!

“It’s not necessary, it’s just a small wound!”. William brushed it off and pulled down his sleeve.

“But you’re hurt!”. She wasn’t that cold-blooded and felt extremely guilty that he was hurt for saving her, “Mr. Rowland, we’re going to the hospital!”

“Sherry, you haven’t answered how you’re going to thank me!”. William glanced at her in search of a suitable response. He noticed she was pale, perhaps from the fright of the encounter with the robbers.

“Mr. Rowland!” Sherry’s heart sank as his tone made her feel very conflicted and frightened, “Mr. Rowland, how would you like me to thank you?”

“Be my wife, OK?”. He waggled his eyebrows.

“Hey!” Sherry bit her lower lips. She was not upset in consideration that he had just saved her. However, her expression revealed her dislike of him.What did he take her for? She couldn’t help but reply coldly, “Mr. Rowland, that’s not possible! Please, don’t joke anymore: William frowned when he heard “Sherry…. don’t be so quick to turn me down. You can take some time to consider it. Now that I’ve saved you, shouldn’t you show some gratitude?”.

His eyes fixed on her face and looked at her tenderly, with a hint of danger. Her body gave off a faint scent of tobacco that accentuated his manly aroma.

“Yeah, that’s great!” excitedly replied another nurse who gave a glance at a dazed William.

Sherry went to take a number to be seen in the emergency room, but before she saw him again, he had already been taken away by the nurses to be attended to.

Could this be the special treatment given to the handsome?

At the time, William had his shirt collar unbuttoned and his sleeve rolled up to show his injured arm. He looked disheveled, but still exuded nobility and elegance. Sherry picked up the tail number tab and sighed.

She glanced through the window at him just as William’s cold, sharp eyes turned toward her. Sherry quickly lowered her gaze and turned away from him.

Just then, her phone rang and she answered the call.

“Mom, why aren’t you back yet?”.

Sherry immediately smiled at the sound of Dan’s voice. She smiled tenderly and said, “Dan, Mom found a friend and he’s in the hospital now.

I’ll be home late. Tell Aunt Celia not to wait for me and that you two should sleep early. Be good, okay?”

William looked out the window and saw her smile as she received a call at ten p.m. Could it be her boyfriend?

Hadn’t the damn woman broken up with her boyfriend and dared to speak affectionately to him in front of him?

His eyes narrowed dangerously once again with displeasure, no, ABSOLUTE displeasure!

To think that the damned woman dared to have a boyfriend. Didn’t that incident leave a phobia in his heart? And to think he even felt bad for her.

Once his wound was bandaged, he walked out with a shadowed face,

“Is it done?” Sherry glanced at his arm, which was perfectly bandaged, and sighed in relief. “I’ll go pay the bill.”

When Sherry returned, William was standing outside the emergency room smoking a cigarette. She saw him staring at her with his pair of elegant yet dangerous eyes.

The nurses were also gazing dizzily at him from the side. On the wall next to the entrance were written the following words Smoking is prohibited.

“Who called now?”. asked William as he exhaled the smoke.

“Huh?” She raised her head in bewilderment, “What did you say?”.

“Who called you?” He asked patiently.

“None of your business!” Sherry was puzzled as to why she was worried about getting a call.

“I want to know who the caller is” He looked at her in a way she couldn’t help, yet she didn’t dare look directly at him.

She didn’t feel safe, even though she was facing him and five steps away. It was as if he could devour her at any moment!

The distance between them was not indifferent.

“Answer!”

Does he answer? She wondered pitifully. She shuddered inwardly at his cry. This man had some problems-what gave him the right to meddle in her private affairs? There was no doubt that he had saved her, but that gave him no right to control her personal affairs. He was only her boss!

Seeing that she refused to speak, William stubbed out his cigarette and led her outside, and forced her into his car.

“Mr. Rowland, I can go home alone!”. She said anxiously.

William also got into the car, “Did your boyfriend call you?”.

Sherry was stunned and gritted her teeth: “Yes, my boyfriend! He asked me why I didn’t go home.”

Suddenly she fell silent. Damn woman, how dare she cohabit?

“Mr. Rowland, thank you for saving me today and get my phone back. I can take a cab home on my own.” Sherry tried to excuse herself, William aggressively glared at Sherry with such intensity that she couldn’t speak and continued to swallow saliva nervously.

Suddenly the car started up like a bullet.

“Ah….” The woman screamed continuously inside the blue Bugatti.

With a screech, the car stopped in the courtyard of a luxury condominium.

“You…you…”. Sherry was slow to get over her fright and realized it was an unfamiliar place, “Ah, where are we?”

Her hands were still clutching her chest. they darted along the road! It was so fast that everything was a blur. Before she could finish saying it, she was dragged into the elevator and then led into an apartment and thrown onto a white couch.

“You, what do you intend to do?”, she asked bewildered. She was terrified.

Why had he brought her here? What right did he have to force himself on her?

“Be my wife!” He demanded of her.

“…”. Her pupils dilated.

“Tonight!” In the blink of an eye, he was close to her making her heart pound.

She scoffed, but couldn’t escape his dark eyes. But what he said was so annoying that she couldn’t take it anymore and shouted, “Are you crazy!”.

He pinched her sharp chin, forced her to look at him and emphasized, “Whether I’m crazy or not, I don’t have to tell you. Are you afraid?”

Sherry quickly closed her eyes.

“Don’t be like that!” He said with clear resignation and acceptance of defeat. He really was dangerous. She had seen him fight and was truly terrified of him. She knew there was no escape if he wanted to do anything to her.

The reality had always been that the weak will be devoured by the strong. This was also true in this society. If it were not, she would not be repeatedly forced by him to do things against her will.

“I said, you are my wife.”

“Why should I?” She opened her eyes again and saw the danger in his eyes and quickly closed them in fear.

Can he provide for you?” Although William hadn’t seen her boyfriend, he was sure her boyfriend wasn’t decent. How could he let his girlfriend sell condoms after work?

“What!” Sherry gulped, “It’s none of your business!”

“I can support you and he can’t!”. He stared into her eyes. His gaze was cold and contemptuous with a sarcastic and haughty expression, “I can give you whenever you want what he never can!”.

She thought he meant money while he meant much more than that.
