Chapter 51:
The thing was especially, that Sherry had found Daniel on the riverbank, but she didn’t say so, there was no need to tell other people about this private matter.
“I was just kidding!”. Liam chuckled, “Don’t mind me!”.
Sherry bit her lips and shook her head, “No!”.
Just then, her phone rang.
She glanced at the screen and saw it was William. She began to tremble and rejected the call.
“Why aren’t you answering?”. asked Liam.

“Oh, no, it’s a wrong number.”
“Okay!”.
The phone rang again.
“I don’t think it’s a wrong number calling, is it?”. Liam laughed and asked.
“Hmm!” Sherry looked down to check, it was still William, she knew he would call back if he hung up, so she picked up.
“Hello?”
“Are you home yet,” William asked impatiently.
“Not yet!” She said, she felt as if he was watching her, What kind of relationship were they having! This was really obnoxious!
“Hurry up then!” He demanded of her.
“Okay!”. She replied.
William hung up the phone, and Sherry laughed awkwardly, “Just my friend!”
“Oh, okay, well your friend is really worried about you!”. Liam laughed, but she could hear a hint of loneliness in his voice.
“Sherry, what do you think of our president?”
Sherry’s expression froze, “I really don’t know him!”.
At the MH residence.
William lit his cigarette, sat in the dark with no lights, and dialed a number.
The line connected and from the other end he could hear a deep manly voice, “Mr. Rowland?”
“Peter, come to the office on Monday, I need…”.
Monday.
Sherry came to work
“Sherry, you haven’t come to work for a few days!”. Said Alice surprised to see Sherry, “You’re finally back!”
“Yes, I took a few days off!”. Sherry affirmed.
Sherry and Alice got along quite well, Alice was a straightforward person, sometimes she also liked to gossip.
Having no enemies was also something she had to be happy about.
Sherry was very busy all day, she was trying to finish the work that was piling up on her over the last few days, then she called Susan about the fashion show, which was in a week, and she had to talk to her about a couple of details.
William had been in his office since morning, didn’t come out once, and when Sherry came in to bring him coffee, he didn’t look at her either.
Sherry glanced at the time, and quickly gathered her things, about to leave for lunch.
As she was leaving the office, William came out as well.
Their eyes met, and William asked in his deep voice, “Is your arm okay?”
“Yes.” Sherry affirmed, William walked past her toward the elevator without another word.
Sherry followed him toward the elevator stiffly, she could smell a mixture of tobacco and cologne coming from him, it unnerved her. But she was going to take the staff elevator, while he had his own.
As they waited for the elevator.
“When did you get home yesterday?”. His eyes stared straight ahead, as he asked Sherry.
“I don’t remember!”. She replied.
And that was the truth, she was still shocked by the scene William was acting out in the bathroom yesterday, and she still felt very helpless about it.
“You’ve forgotten!”. He raised his eyebrows.
Sherry looked down at the floor, “Mr. Rowland, I hope you will allow me to resign after the parade!”.
She no longer wanted to be his secretary, it horrified her.
He paused, pressed his eyebrows together tightly and stared at her, “Let’s talk about that later.”
Then the elevator arrived and he got in.
After lunch, Sherry went to Susan’s company to finalize the details. By the time they were finished and she was back in the office, it was five o’clock in the afternoon, time to go home, so she gathered her things, and prepared to pick up Daniel.
As she was leaving the lobby of the building, and about to head for the bus stop, she saw someone get out of a cab. That person was none other than the Mr. Mollison she had been looking for so intently.
Sherry’s face lost all its colors, her heart raced and she clutched her purse tightly, then ran to Peter: “Sir, sir, please tell me where the man in the fox mask is!”.
Peter wasn’t too surprised by her and just looked at her, then sighed, “Miss, I told you I don’t know you!”
“Sir, how can you be so cruel?”. Sherry saw her companions leaving the building at that moment and lowered her voice, “Sir, you are the only one who can help me now, please, I beg you, tell me where she is… How can you forget? Please help a mother.”
“Miss, what do you want from me?”. Peter began to show signs of anger.
Sherry was afraid he would leave, so she grabbed his arm, “I want to see him, tell me where he is! I want to see him.”
“Miss Murray, what if you see him?” he sighed.
“So you admit that you know me?” Sherry paused, a glimmer of joy flashed across her face, this was her hope, her only hope, she was already on the verge of giving up, but now she saw hope again, how could she not be happy about it?
“Miss Murray, let me ask him, if he agrees to see you, then I will call you, what do you think? I suggest you go home now.
“No, I want you to call him right now!”. Sherry clutched her sleeve even tighter, “I want to see him right now, please!”
“Okay!” Peter pulled out his phone and dialed a number, “Sir, Miss Murray wants to see you.”
Whatever the other person was saying, Peter listened and affirmed, then hung up, “Miss Murray, do you remember the Villa from five years ago?”
The Villa?
How could she know? Someone dragged her there, then she was taken by that person to the hospital, she couldn’t remember, if she really did, how could she now be so desperate?
“I’ll write down the address for you, you must go there this afternoon, he said, if you want to see him, you will have to pay for it, do you understand?”.
The moment Peter told her that, she felt the emptiness in her heart, her tears ran down her cheeks.
“As long as he’s willing to see me, to let me see my son, I’ll accept anything!”
“All right then!” Peter gave her the address, “At 9 o’clock tonight, go there, he’ll be waiting for you, at 9 o’clock tonight, not a minute earlier or later, otherwise you won’t be able to see anyone!”.
“Yes, are you really willing to see me?”. Sherry wanted to make sure, “Can you give me your number, I can’t fully trust you, I need to make sure the address you gave me is correct!”.
Peter sighed again and wrote down his number, “Is that okay now?”.
Sherry grabbed the piece of paper, feeling very confused, and bowed to the man, “Thank you, thank you so much!”.
He was finally going to see his son!
Sherry didn’t even know how she had gotten on the bus, she was already at home when she realized she had forgotten to pick up Daniel, so she called the daycare, asking them to let Daniel stay at the daycare for the night, that she wasn’t going to be able to pick him up.
Then she hung up the phone and found her savings account. She had $7.5 million in it.
Her tears started flowing again, first two drops, then they flowed like a waterfall, she tried to wipe them away, but the more she did, the more she cried. She could no longer hold back…
She had finally found the guy. She was going to pay him back and see his son to make sure he had a good life.
It was 8:30 p.m. Sherry left the house after changing her clothes, headed to the location on the paper, it was so far away there was no bus to get there, so she hailed a cab.
In just 15 minutes, her cab pulled up in front of the Villa.
Sherry got out of the car, she was so excited that she started shaking all over her body.
She was here, this was the right address.
A Bentley was parked in the yard, it had no license plate.
Sherry walked to the door, took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.
The door opened.
A faint smell of tobacco mixed with cologne entered her nose, it was familiar, maybe all men had a similar smell.
She raised her eyes slowly, and saw a tall person towering over her, he was wearing a suit that didn’t have a single stitch on it, she held her breath, and looked at him, he was wearing the fox mask that had appeared countless times in her nightmares….:
“Come in” said the man in a deep voice, it seemed he spoke that way intentionally.
Then he turned and entered.
Sherry didn’t remember how she had entered, she felt very weak, as if all her blood had been drained out of her, her eyes were fixed on the fox mask all the way, and she ignored that tall figure of his.
“Sit down!” Said Mr. Fox, “I suppose you wanted to see me?”.
Sherry summoned all her remaining strength to hold back tears and said, “Sir, I want to see my son, please let me see him!”.
Mr. Fox paused, then gracefully shifted his seating position, “Sit down, I don’t like people standing when he talks to me, it gives me a kind of pressure, and makes me uncomfortable!”.
Sherry took a deep breath, afraid to anger him, and sat down.
She was level with him and saw his eyes behind the mask, they seemed so sharp, they chilled her blood.
She would never have called those eyes gentle.
Mr. Fox took a puff on his cigarette, and blew out the smoke, he was surrounded by smoke, it made him look foggy.
Sherry looked around, it was the same as it was five years ago, the decor was kept black and white, simple and the owner of the house was a neat freak.
“I want to see my son!”. Sherry felt her heart flutter even more at the mention of her snatched son, her throat stung.
Mr. Fox chuckled, “Why?”
When Sherry heard that, a hint of darkness flashed across her face, her hands trembled as she pulled the savings account from her purse, “Sir, this is what you gave me, 7.5 million, we agreed to void the contract, you took my son.”
Sherry left the card on the table in front of her, and sat back in her seat.
Mr. Fox was a little surprised, his eyes were narrowed behind the mask, and denoted disbelief, he asked, “You didn’t use the money?”
“Yes.” Sherry affirmed.
“Why?” he asked.
“I want to see my son, Sir, I don’t want the money, please, just give me my son.” She pleaded with him.
“Do you think your son will still remember you?”. Mr. Fox asked her, “Do you think he will accept you easily?”.
“I do.” She knew he was right, it had been five years, and she had played no part in his growing up, if he suddenly appeared now, how would he know her?
But this was all about him!
“I ask you again, can you take care of your son?”. Mr. Fox asked calmly, his voice even had a tinge of mockery in it, “He needs a few hundred thousand a month, he’s attending the best school, he has professionals to take care of him, he’s living a great life, do you really want him to suffer with you again?”
“I…” Sherry was terrified by his endless questioning.
It’s true.
A few hundred thousand, That would take her years to save!
