The beautiful jewelry gave off splendor against the radiant, gleaming lights of the store. The diamond ring on Sherry’s hand sparkled with dazzling brilliance. The ring had an ingenious design: a heart shape with a large diamond surrounded by several smaller diamonds.

“Mmm! I’ll take it!”. William at the same time shot his gaze to the other ring for the man, “With that one together!”.

“William?” Sherry can’t wait to interrupt, “Why buy rings?”.

“Hold on to stay with me!” he replied, “See, this pair of rings is very beautiful, isn’t it?”.

“Sir, you really have good taste. It’s a classic design by the famous Italian designer NQ, AND it’s a limited edition!”.

“Well, it’s not that bad!”. said William casually.

He lowered his head and seeing the surprise in Sherry’s eyes, he lifted the corner of his lips, “Don’t get too emotional!”.

“……..” under his gaze, she became a little nervous.

He grabbed her hand and looked at the ring she had put on it, suddenly bent down and kissed her hand in the presence of the saleswomen.

The salesgirls blushed as they witnessed his intimate action.

“Ah__” Sherry stomped her foot in shyness and wished she could disappear right then.

“I know you like it, but calm down or you’ll get laughed at!” teased William.

He merely kissed her hand, but as he watched her delicate, lovely face, he was tempted to kiss it too.

Sherry felt her hand kissed by him was hot as if burning with fire, and a current of heat flowed through her whole body, which made her face obviously warm.

Why did he buy her a ring? She was stunned and shocked by everything he had done today: first the declaration of lifelong love and then the diamond ring. Was he crazy or was she?

“I don’t need a ring!”. as she was about to take off the ring, William stopped her and held her hand. He narrowed his eyes and gave her a stern look, he said in a deep voice, “Don’t you dare take it off!”.

He leaned forward and whispered a threat near her ear, “If you do, I’ll kiss you right here now until you put it back on!”

“You…….” annoyed by his dominance, she was struck dumb with astonishment.

A saleswoman seemed to notice her feelings, and smiled to help her, “Miss, this gentleman is propositioning you! Why are you unhappy, now that he intends to please you by buying you a diamond ring?”.

But William did not correct the saleswoman and left the mistake unexplained: “With a credit card, please!”

“Fine!” the saleswoman immediately took her gold credit card and then handed it back to William when she was done, “Sir, would you like to take it now or wrap it?”

“We’ll take it now!”. William put the ring on his right middle finger, and so did Sherry.

“Sir, are you two going to get engaged?” the saleswoman asked excitedly, looking at them both with all her soul, “Blessed be a long marriage!”.

They both froze at the saleswoman’s words.

William suddenly curved his lips, his bright, charming smile enchanting the saleswomen:

“No…” feeling awkward, Sherry glanced at William, but seeing him smile brightly, with no desire to explain, she became a little anxious.

What did he mean? By the time Sherry wanted to explain further, William had already pulled her out of the tent.

With her hand in his, she felt the warmth of his palm and her heart skipped a beat faster and faster.

He would like to see her dress like a neighbor girl in white clothes, as she looked pretty and beautiful in white. Dragged by him here and there, Sherry was tired. She had originally intended to rest a little on her period, but she had no way of refusing his proposal to go shopping.

She pulled out of the parking lot and kept wondering where he would go. There was a lane at the corner of the department store. She intended to go through it to go to the bus station. Suddenly, several tall men surrounded her in the lane.

“Hot girl!” hissed one of them and taunted her.

Her brain went blank. It seemed she had run into hooligans who only gave her the age of eighteen or nineteen. It was a sad thing that these teenagers dropped out of school and chose to be hooligans on the street.

“What’s your name, honey?” a laughing redheaded boy shouted at him.

Sherry was totally speechless – a group of teenagers calling her sweetie? She stepped back and patiently coaxed, “Kids, you must now sit in school, but no wandering the streets. By the way, I’m almost thirty now and a mother of two. Don’t be stupid and calling me sweetheart.”

“…….”. Sherry gasped.

Suddenly, she felt fear. Maybe those guys weren’t just troublemakers, and she was informed that the crime rate was getting higher and higher.

“Honey, be our girlfriend!” his flirtatious tone made her feel disgusted. They surrounded her closer and closer, and it was too late for her to run away. She began to curse William in her heart, Because it would be okay if she didn’t change and dress nicely!

One of them brought his mouth close to hers and said, “Let me kiss you, sweetheart!”

William just turned the car around, which took no more than a minute, and found her leaving without telling him. Seeing a figure in white enter the lane, he instantly headed that way.

He alighted to pursue her.

As soon as he reached the lane, he saw that she was surrounded by a group of mobsters. He turned somber and dark, and shouted, “What are they doing?”

Her sleek eyebrows cocked and she hurried to curse them out.

Sherry was relieved and tears streamed down her face when she saw William’s familiar, angry face. Seeing her savior, she became emotional and cried out, “William…”.

Those teenagers immediately fled in terror at the sight of the screams of such a tall, big man.

At last, at last, he came to save her. The prepared words of reproach vanished like a bubble at the sight of her tearful, terrified face. He embraced her and comforted her in a gentle tone, “It’s all right!”

“Where have you been?” she moaned in a hurt tone.

Sherry hugged his neck tightly, tears seeping into his clothes, touching his heated body.

He kissed around her ear and moved his lips to her cheeks and then to her lips.

She did not reject him, allowing his kisses to go where they would. With all pity and love, he kissed her softly….

“Are you afraid?” he asked softly with his forehead against hers.

“Yes.” She murmured still in a trembling, fearful voice, “Why are they so mean? They’re so young.”
