The Supreme Level Up System -
Chapter 170 Killing Time
Aion woke up when the sun was rising, and while he got used to being the first to wake up at his home, he found the sailors that worked during the night being substituted by those who rested at night.
The frontal part of the ship was empty and didn't have many obstacles, so Aion decided to train there. The morning wind in the ocean filled his nostrils with life… he couldn't see anything in any functions, but he found himself at peace like never before.
"Maybe I should become a pirate hunter and make some money while using three swords…" Aion thought. "Living like that for a few months every year seems like a good adventure."
Without a target, it would be hard, but since he was focusing on leveling up the sniper class, Aion summoned his longbow. Aion thought that he could use the fish around to practice hitting moving targets, but it was hard to see anything below due to the waves. Fortunately, Aion found some birds flying around… they were green and were as big as human beings, so Aion assumed it was another species of monster.
When Aion aimed, he saw the creature twitching its neck to look at him. Still, before it could replace him, Aion fired the arrow that pierced the creature's head from the side.
You obtained 100 experience points.
"As expected, it was a monster," Aion thought when he changed his class and then brought the body of the creature on board with his magic.
While no one was looking, Aion made his weapon absorb the body, and then he looked for the next target before changing his class again. Using magic was too easy. After all
"It seems that I need to put in some extra strength…" Aion thought when he missed the second shot. "Thanks to Eagle Eyes, I can hit everything in a range of one hundred meters, but thanks to the wind, the speed of the monsters, and my low strength, the arrows don't reach far."
Aion didn't like to cut corners, but since the monsters didn't get too close to the ship, he had to increase his parameters by using coins. He had a lot to spare so that it won't be a problem. Aion realized that he would also get a lot more once he returned home… and without doing anything. Still, those were the fruits of his hard work, so it was fine.
After a while, Aion changed to his spear and then began to practice his fighting style. With that weapon, Aion liked to focus on overwhelming the enemy with a rain of thrusts. It was tiring, but it was pretty cool to attack so fast. It made Aion recall a game that he played in high school. The spearman class had many types of builds, but he liked the speed-based build because it was fun to attack fast.
"Training hard so early in the morning, I am impressed," Sauros suddenly approached and then said. "You are blessed with two powerful lineages, but you still are hardworking."
"I won't deny that, but even the sharpest blades needed to be sharpened often in order to keep their cutting power," Aion said. "Talent alone can only bring you so far."
Sauros nodded. Meanwhile, Seris, who was behind him, still looked half asleep. She wasn't a morning person, it seems… After that, those two just watched the ocean while Aion trained. He had the impression that sailors and captains were more hard-working, but there wasn't much to do when the wind wasn't changing directions and enemies didn't appear.
"What do you guys do around here to kill time?" Aion asked.
"Play cards, dice, and chat," Sauros said.
"What a productive way to waste time…" Aion said while frowning.
"We also spar, but we aren't as hardcore as you," Sauros said. "We replace pirates pretty often, so we need to keep our skills sharp."
Thinking about pirates, Aion wondered if they found many weird magic weapons while fighting them. Those types of guys have quite the collection of stolen goods, after all. Moreover, their main targets are port towns and cities, and a lot of valuable goods pass through those before going anywhere.
"Anyway, when are we going to reach our destination?" Aion asked.
"In three weeks, if we don't replace some obstacles along the way, such as pirates and storms," Sauros replied.
"Three weeks… it seems pretty far away considering that we are using an advanced ship," Aion said. "Are we following the best route? Isn't there a temple that is closer than that?"
"No," Sauros replied. "The world is that big, and you didn't have the chance to confirm that, even though you flew above several countries one year ago."
"Do you have a map of the world?" Aion asked.
"We aren't explorers, and we go where we need to go to fulfill our mission," Sauros said. "Still, I can say that we explored most of the continents that have access to this ocean. Not completely, though."
He didn't reply if he had a map, and considering that Sauros was willing to answer a lot of questions now, Aion assumed that he didn't have one. Making one could cause problems for them later if they lose it. Still, pirates definitely had, and Aion was planning to use them to get the map of the world… or at least a small part of it.
Aion couldn't imagine them traveling for three weeks non-stop. They were bound to stop in some ports to get supplies… without showing their ship, of course. Aion will be looking forward to that since he didn't know much of the world aside from the kingdom he lived, the kingdom that was destroyed, and the kingdoms filled with retards that had borders with Zaera kingdom. Hopefully, they won't be filled with people that were a real pain in the ass…
Aion felt like asking them about such a possibility, but he didn't want to spoil the surprise, be it a bad or a good surprise.
