Chapter 724 - The Solution Found
Chapter 724 - The Solution Found
Yvonne's class with the Captain came to an end with him giving out different orders to take a look at the progress she had made during the last year they had not trained together.
When it was time for him to leave, he informed her that they would have constant tests to see how she would handle his tasks, and only after he was satisfied with her performance would he start training her to manifest her aura for a longer period.
The little girl agreed and even vowed that she would work hard to gain his approval as quickly as possible.
Only then would she be able to learn how to manifest her aura for longer, allowing her the chance to improve in her skills.
If she could maintain her aura well then the chance to spar with stronger individuals would not be too far away from her.
With this thought in her mind, Yvonne bid goodbye to the Captain and returned to the mansion for breakfast.
After a quick wash, the child was accompanied by her butler as they made their way to the Dining Hall.
The rest of her family was already there and when Yvonne entered the room, they seemed to be engaged in deep conversation.
Raising her brow, the little girl walked to the table before taking her seat in her usual place.
The Earl was at the head of the table with Howard to his right while the Countess, as always, was to his left.
Yvonne's seat was next to her mother and the moment she sat down, a maid served her breakfast which was a tall glass of warm milk and crispy buttered toast.
Sitting on the other end of the table was Viscount Marcus Valente and similarly, his children and wife sat on either side of him.
The boys all sat on one side while the women sat on the other.
Yvonne smiled at her aunt who was next to her and then nodded at the rest of them before focusing on the first meal of her day.
"So I will be concentrating on studies from now on." Howard's declaration diverted her attention from the soothing milk.
'Why would you need to study more than what you already are?' The child's mind was filled with this doubt as soon as she heard his firm words.
In comparison to his hard work and diligent attitude towards studies, Yvonne had been a complete slacker as she knew that the plague would last for a long time.
She had already chosen to spend her days doing whatever she pleased to do and not be focused entirely on her studies.
However, even when she would often ask Howard to slack off with her, he would refuse and meet her only during his free time.
He would even drag her to the library so that he could coerce her into studying with him.
Therefore, to hear that he wished to be more studious was a little surprising to her.
Looking up, she found the parents nodding their heads in agreement which made her tilt her head.
Her confused and curious gaze was easy to decipher and Raylene was kind enough to explain what had brought this on.
While Yvonne was busy with the Captain, two letters bearing big news had come to the St. Claire mansion.
Both of them were from the same source but one was addressed to the Earl while the other was meant for the young master of the St. Claire family.
Everyone had assembled in the Parlor after waking up so they looked at the letters together and thus had learned what was written in them.
Since Yvonne was away at that moment, they could only reveal its contents to her right now.
"The Academy reopens after the summer ends." Howard was the one who disclosed the crux of the matter to his little sister.
On account of the plague which had begun in the midst of the summer season, most of the families had been stuck right where they were.
The intensity of the plague made it impossible for them to return to the Capital after summer came to an end and were forced to stay in the same places.
The King had forbidden travel and even gatherings of any kind so it was obvious that even the Royal Academy, one among the biggest structures in the Kingdom was also shut down.
The time for the reopening of the Academy and the beginning of the next academic year had gone by but no news of the lockdown being lifted was heard.
This led to the children staying in their respective homes with no chance of attending any classes.
The entire year had gone by and no one was able to learn anything other than from the books they already owned.
There had been a lot of distress among the parents of the boys attending not only the Royal Academy but also the Sonete Academy, the two places that catered to the education of the nobles in Rosenhyde.
A year with no classes implied that one year of their educational life had gone to waste.
This was considered a serious issue especially for those few pupils who were supposed to graduate from these academies last year.
Those who were supposed to be in their final year after summer ended had no classes and thus would not be able to graduate no matter what they did.
Dean Aramis Brodie was not someone who would just allow them all to graduate without having attended the appropriate classes by using the excuse of the plague.
Everyone knew of his stern attitude towards the education and future of these children so they had been waiting to hear any news from the Academy which would help them understand what to do next.
Their wait had come to an end this morning as the source of the letters was the Royal Academy, revealing their solution to the year which had gone to waste.
The Dean and his best professors along with a few ministers had sat together to figure this out and had even gained the permission of the King before sending these letters out.
Every boy attending the Royal Academy had gained a similar letter, explaining how they should proceed with preparations for the coming academic year.
Even Sonete Academy must have done the same as they were also supposed to follow the same instructions given by the King.
"So how are they going to make up for the lost year?" The little girl inquired, curious to know what they had come up with.
Howard had an energetic smile as he cleared his throat to answer this query.
"We will first complete the curriculum for the previous year when we could not attend the Academy before moving to the current year's lessons." He revealed and appeared to be excited to experience what was to come.
The letter to the Earl explained in great detail why the authorities had found this solution to be the most efficient one.
The last year's curriculum would be completed within the first five months after the Academy reopened followed by a small break for a couple of weeks.
This was essentially favorable to those boys who had been in their final year but had not been able to graduate due to the plague.
During the first five months, everyone would have to complete a year's worth of studies which would help them move to the next grade.
The final year pupils would graduate at the end of the five months depending on their performance.
After this break, the boys would then move to the next grade and a new batch of pupils would be in the final year.
They would then begin their current academic year's lessons and would finish them before the Summer vacation as usual.
Another batch graduates before summer and once vacation comes to an end, their normal classes would resume.
Only this year would they be rushing through their lessons and trying their best to keep up with the madness ensuing around them.
After the summer of next year ended, they would have to follow the normal schedule that had always been used.
'They put too much thought into this..' The little girl could make out the amount of time and effort the authorities had put in while coming up with this strange and completely unexpected solution to the problem at hand.
