Under the Veil I Rule
Chapter 217

"Ms. Porter, I'll send you the photos. I'm heading out now."

With that, she turned on her heel and left. Finnian watched her retreating figure, eyebrows knitting together.

"Finn, what is it?" Liliana asked, tugging at his sleeve, her voice cautious.

Finnian looked away. "Nothing. Let's get going."

The two of them trailed behind Amara as they exited the grove. From a distance, it seemed as if the three of them were together, even though they weren't.

Outside, the crew was busy setting up the scene. Cedric was directing the crew, making sure everything was in place.

As Amara, Finnian, and Liliana emerged from the grove, dozens of the crew glanced their way, a wave of surprise washing over them. What was going on with these three? They were supposed to part ways, yet here they were, together?

But then, it looked like Amara was leading, with Finnian and Liliana following at a distance. Maybe they just went there in order of time.

"Ama, where'd you disappear to?" Keith had arrived early and approached Amara, speaking in hushed tones.

Amara flashed her camera at him. "Just taking some photos. The scenery in there is pretty great."

Her eyes lit up when she saw Keith, a stark contrast to the cool demeanor she'd shown Finnian earlier. Finnian noticed this change; he walked over, stopping at a respectful distance from Amara and Keith, his eyes sizing up Keith.

Keith turned to face him, his smile chilly. "Mr. Everly, what a surprise to see you here. Accompanying your future wife, I presume? Such a devoted husband."

Though his words seemed complimentary, Liliana wasn't smiling. She watched Finnian, her nerves on edge. Something felt off about Finn today. Was it just her hallucination?

Finnian, usually unruffled, seemed unusually distant today.

"Weren't you supposed to be at an event?" he asked, ignoring Keith's jibe. "Why are you here early?"

"Oh, Mr. Everly, you're keeping tabs on my schedule? Liliana must have told you. You two are quite the team, sharing everything," Keith replied, his tone sharp enough to cut, his curled lips unfading.

The people around them picked up on the tension and watched with keen interest. Finnian didn't rise to the bait, his gaze growing colder.

The atmosphere thickened with awkwardness. Amara, not wanting to waste time on this, turned to Keith. "Do you have a moment? Let's go over the script."

"Sure, let's go." Keith's demeanor softened significantly as he addressed Amara. He stretched languidly before walking off with Amara.

Liliana watched them leave, commenting, "Ms. Sullivan and Keith are really close, aren't they? He seems ready to do whatever she asks. Childhood friends, after all."

Her tone was teasing, but she kept a careful eye on Finnian. Whether he heard her or not was unclear, as he remained silent, his gaze fixed on the pair's retreating figures.

That evening, the crew finally completed the setup. Cedric organized a dinner at

the hotel nearby, a pre-celebration of sorts.

The private room featured a

massive table fit for over twenty people. Among the key members the production team was Amara, naturally. She sat next to Keith, directly across from Finnian and Liliana.
