Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 224
He'd always thought Elysia hated Finnian even more than he did, so he figured Elysia would be against Amara keeping Finnian's child. To his surprise, Elysia actually supported her.
But after thinking it over, he realized that women and men often saw things differently. Elysia's friendship with Amara was purely platonic, while his feelings for Amara had turned into love. There was no way they could see eye to eye.
So he replied to Elysia with a simple "Okay," leaving it at that.
He put down his phone and kept replaying Amara's words in his mind, a swirl of bittersweet emotions churning inside him, leaving him feeling a bit lost.
He sat there, frozen in his room, deep into the night without moving an inch.
The next morning, the set was ready for shooting. Keith, the leading man in Whispers of Winter, was on point, nailing his scenes with hardly any retakes. It was a smooth day of work.
But the moment the cameras stopped rolling, he became a different person- quiet, with a cold demeanor. He seemed irritated if anyone spoke to him, and soon enough, people stopped trying to engage with him.
It was puzzling, especially considering how attentive he'd been to Amara at dinner yesterday. Everyone expected him to be glued to her side again today.
Yet today, Keith and Amara behaved like strangers. Even though they worked in the same space, they didn't exchange a single word during breaks, as if they didn't know each other at all.
Considering Keith's odd behavior today, everyone speculated that maybe they'd had a fight.
By evening, their distant demeanor had lasted all day, and the whole crew was buzzing with rumors about what had happened between Amara and Keith.
Amara was aware of the gossip but didn't let it bother her. Though she worked diligently, her heart wasn't really in it.
After a three-year cold war with Keith, they had finally reconciled, and she cherished their friendship. Why had things soured again? Were they on the brink of another fallout?
Feeling unsettled, Amara wrapped up her day around eight in the evening and decided to take a walk to clear her head.
The island was quite large, and
Cedric had rented a sizable area for them. To ensure safety, Cedric
arranged for security around the
perimeter the day they arrived, even venturing out alone at night didn't feel dangerous. swnovel.net
Amara wandered near a small park. As she glanced inside, the rocks there were
towering and rugged, unlike anything she'd seen in the city, so intrigued, she ventured in to explore.
At that hour, the place was deserted. Walking alone among the tall rocks was a tad unnerving. Thankfully, there were lights overhead, brightly illuminating the area. Being a skeptic of aff things supernatural, she wasn't too scared, just strolling around alone. swnovel
After about ten minutes, Amara realized that despite the initial intrigue, the park was nothing but rocks and barren land. Not much to see, really, so after a moment of thought, she decided to head back.
On her return, she chose a slightly different path, hoping to catch more of the scenery. But as she walked, something felt off-the ground was unusually soft, as if it was hollow underneath, leaving her with an unsettling sense that she might suddenly fall through. swnovel
Amara glanced around, the areas beyond the light's reach pitch black and eerily silent, with not a single sound of footsteps, intensifying her fear. She hastened her pace, eager to get out of there.
