Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 238
Amara was well aware of the situation and chose not to pry further. Instead, she simply said, "Ely, once you're married, make sure to take good care of yourself. And if Dorian acts like a jerk, don't just put up with it. Let him have it if you need to."
Elysia, despite her fiery temper, found it hard to get mad at Dorian unless it was about something important to her.
Over the years, Elysia had quarreled with Dorian many times on her behalf.
"I know, I'm less inclined to spoil him now. You don't need to worry," Elysia replied,
her lips curling a bit as if she found Dorian somewhat beneath her.
Her expression shifted slightly, her eyes clouding with a touch of melancholy as another thought crossed her mind.
Just then, there came a knock at the door. Amara got up, moving to open it while calling out, "Who is it?"
"It's me, Amara."
Lucian's voice came from the other side. Opening the door, Amara greeted him, "Lucian, come on in. Oh... What happened?"
She paused, noticing the redness around Lucian's eyes, as if he'd been crying. This was surprising; Lucian was usually the strong one, even stronger than her. Why was he crying now?
Lucian stepped inside, casting a quick glance at Elysia sitting on the couch but saying nothing.
Amara quickly introduced them. "This is my best friend, Elysia. I've told you about her before. She's here visiting me. Lucian, maybe we should step outside to talk."
Concerned about his discomfort, Amara was about to step out with him.
Lucian shook his head. "It's fine. I've heard so much about Elysia, I know she's not just anyone."
"Well then, have a seat," Amara offered, pulling out a chair for him and sitting down herself, still unsure of what had brought him to tears.
Elysia gave Amara a knowing look, silently confirming if this was the guy who had stood up for her alongside Keith.
Amara nodded subtly, mouthing, "That's him."
As Elysia realized who he was, her demeanor softened. She began, "What's
troubling you, big guy? What's brought you to tears? Maybe I can help."
Lucian glanced at her before speaking. "My girlfriend broke up with me."
"What?"
Amara was taken aback. She'd heard about Lucian's girlfriend before. Both had come from modest backgrounds and had been working hard locally. Lucian had later moved to pursue an acting career but always intended to return, marry her, and settle down after making some money.
He'd even mentioned that after wrapping up the filming for Whispers of Winter, he planned to leave the entertainment industry with enough savings to start a life with her.
Everything seemed so well-planned. How did it fall apart so suddenly?
Lucian fell silent for a moment before continuing, "She didn't want to wait for me anymore. She's marrying someone else, someone her family arranged for her." "What?"
Amara was stunned. She considered the situation, and then suggested, "She must have feelings for you.è Maybe you should talk to her, see if you can reason with her family You're doing well for yourselfnow, and you have a lot to offer. If you approach them sincerely, they might reconsider."
Lucian shook his head. "They're already married. It happened yesterday."
Amara was at a loss for words. How could everything happen so quickly? Did weddings really happen this fast now?
Elysia, ever the blunt one, chimed in, "Did she tell you about the marriage before it happened or after? If it was after, you were being cuckolded. Why bother holding on to someone like that?"
