Chapter 39:
“Phoebe…” Adelina sensed Phoebe’s icy demeanor and hurried after her.
The Watts and Gill families had similar standings, often working together. Phoebe was the beloved only daughter of the Watts family.
Before returning to the Gill family, Adelina had used various methods to get close to Phoebe and become her friend.
After Adelina returned to the Gill family, their friendship helped smooth out the collaboration between the two families. Liam and Averie had praised Adelina for her efforts.
Adelina knew better than to have a falling out with Phoebe.
As they left, the group with them quickly found reasons to scatter.
The waiters rolled their eyes.
“Such questionable characters!”
As the commotion died down, passersby began to think less of the Gill and Watts families because of Adelina and Phoebe.
While there were numerous wealthy families in Baythorn, distinctions were unmistakable. Those with both wealth and power were few, and most families only managed their businesses and developed a reputation. The Gill and Watts families were not as formidable or unique, as most of the guests here were similar to them.
Beside the racetrack were seats in the stands.
As the esteemed Black Card holder, Harlee found her seat in the closest row of the stands, providing the best view to enjoy the thrill of the race safely.
“Miss Sanderson, Mr. Green is caught up with something and told you to enjoy yourself first before he returns,” the manager said, respectfully handing her the membership card.

“This is the card he gave you.”
Harlee raised an eyebrow and glanced at her handbag, which contained the same membership card.
Interested in the racetrack, she had, under a different name, instructed her subordinates to secure a membership card.
Yet, Harlee acknowledged Rhys’ gesture of goodwill.
She accepted the card and nodded.
“I appreciate it. Please express my gratitude to him.”
The manager smiled, had refreshments delivered for Harlee, and inquired if she needed any racing gear.
Some guests arrived with their own race cars, while others chose to borrow vehicles from the racetrack. The track featured top-quality cars that many people desired.
However, the type of car available depended on a person’s membership status.
For someone like Harlee, who held a black card, she had the freedom to choose any car she wanted.
To the manager’s surprise, Harlee chose not to take any car.
Had she simply come to watch the races? Did she have no plans to compete?
The manager felt curious but didn’t dare to press her for more details.
After receiving a nod from Harlee, he respectfully stepped back.
Several racers were getting ready on the track, and the stands slowly filled with eager spectators.
