Chapter 52:

As Harlee completely disregarded them, Phoebe and Adelina were left seething, their hard-won attention snatched away by Harlee in an instant.

Both internally condemned Harlee as shameless.

Adelina clenched her teeth, wishing she could confront Harlee directly and tear her apart.

“Let’s start,” Harlee said, casting a glance at Adelina and then at Mayer.

“Let’s see if you’ve gotten any better,” Harlee said to Mayer, word by word.

Her statement was filled with gravity, her striking eyes radiating intensity.

Such a look was one Mayer would never forget, even in death.

“It’s you! It really is you!” Mayer shouted, his blue eyes reddening as he pointed at Harlee, his hand shaking.

He had never imagined he would face his worst nightmare right here.

His expression contorted with a mixture of rage and fear, starkly different from his previous arrogance.

Mayer’s reaction convinced many spectators that Harlee was indeed the legendary racer who had ruled the racing circuits in Aeroria five years prior.

A surge of admiration rippled through the crowd.

“Mayer, didn’t you boast about being the strongest? What’s wrong? Scared to race now?”

Someone heckled Mayer with a whistle, recalling his earlier disdainful remarks about the people of Multitopia, which had ignited their resentment.

“He must be terrified.

gαℓησν𝒆𝓁s․çоm, where stories thrive

He was defeated so badly back then. I heard he even wept and ran back to his mother.

Ha-ha.”

“If you’re too scared to race, better apologize now.

Don’t start complaining later that we bullied you!”

The crowd’s words were much harsher than any of Mayer’s earlier insults.

Their words stung, and Mayer felt utterly humiliated, his face so flushed it seemed it might bleed.

“Harlee! Beat him down!”

“Harlee! Go for it!”

The crowd’s applause for Harlee intensified, resonating in the air.

Adelina and Phoebe scowled, clenching their teeth and stomping their feet in secret, forced to internalize their irritation.

Not a fan of loud settings, Harlee’s brow furrowed slightly, yet she remained composed. She leaned casually against the car door, propping her chin in her hand, and gazed at Mayer with a cool, slightly mischievous look, waiting for his response.

“Think I’m scared of you? I’ll race you!” Mayer eventually said, his eyes locking on Harlee as he forcefully spat out the challenge.

Harlee responded without a word, merely sliding into her car.

Out of sight, Mayer’s lips twisted into a malicious grin. Today, he was determined to put an end to his ongoing nightmare.

Harlee, Adelina, and Mildred positioned their cars side by side at the starting line.

All was set.
