Chapter 53:
At the sound of the starting pistol, the three cars burst forward like missiles. The gap between them widened swiftly.
Mayer took the lead, his expression stern, entirely focused on securing a victory.
Adelina was close behind, with Harlee in the rear.
“No way! Falling behind right from the beginning? I thought she was supposed to be remarkable!” Phoebe mocked.
“What do you know, as a beginner?” Marcelo, who had approached to watch his idol’s performance and pick up some techniques, overheard Phoebe. Without missing a beat, he frowned and shot back at her.
Phoebe was taken aback.
“Marcelo!”
Others interjected, supporting Marcelo, “Why are you belittling one of our own while defending a foreigner?”
The crowd soon echoed Marcelo’s statement, condemning Phoebe.
“Really! Are you even from Multitopia?”
“Ugh! Did everyone forget her buddy Adelina was swooning over Mayer earlier? They’re all the same, just a bunch of wannabes.”
“We’re all cheering for Harlee, and here Phoebe is, opposing everyone. It’s repulsive.
Can she just disappear?”
Suddenly, Phoebe became the focus of everyone’s disapproval. Unable to counter the crowd’s reaction, she bit her lip in humiliation and recoiled, falling silent.

Observing this, Collin and the others quickly voiced their support for Harlee to align themselves publicly.
However, given their previous behavior toward Harlee, the crowd viewed them skeptically, clearly not convinced by the sudden show of support.
The crowd was convinced that even if Collin and the others were shameless, they’d be too embarrassed to show their faces here again.
Even if they returned, no one would regard them as anything but sellouts.
However, Collin wasn’t willing to part with the hard-earned entry pass without a fight.
His gaze flickering, he suddenly turned and yelled toward the racetrack, “Adelina, do it! Beat Mayer and make us proud!”
Phoebe and the others quickly caught on. Indeed, Adelina was still competing. If she won, they could erase the “foreign wannabe” label and possibly gain a prestigious reputation in high society.
With excitement, Phoebe and her group hurried to the front, cheering passionately for Adelina while fervently hoping Harlee would not emerge victorious.
Amidst the roar of the engines, Adelina heard the support and raised her head with pride.
See? She was still the favorite of the crowd.
And hadn’t she left Harlee behind?
“Boom!” Just as Adelina was savoring her lead, the black and red Phantom Racer suddenly pulled up alongside her.
Adelina turned in surprise and glared.
Harlee was casually steering with one hand, the other supporting her chin. She glanced ahead at Mayer, far in the lead, and shook her head slightly, as if disappointed.
