Chapter 94:
“She has a knack for charming men at auctions into spoiling her with presents.”
A surge of fury flashed across Harlee’s face. She fixed Liliana with a piercing gaze and stepped forward.
“What? Have you been lurking in the shadows, keeping tabs on me?” Harlee shot back, her voice icy.
Brixton made a move to draw Harlee into an embrace, but as his hand brushed her shoulder, she nimbly sidestepped him. Unprepared for her agility, Brixton found himself staggering forward, only for Harlee to deliver a swift kick that sent him crashing to his knees.
With expert precision, Harlee maneuvered Brixton’s arm behind his back and forced him down. She then pressed her knee firmly against the back of his head, pinning him to the floor.
“Keep quiet, will you? Did you really think you could touch me, little Brixton?” she teased, a smirk dancing across her face.
A wave of panic briefly washed over Brixton’s face, a look he typically masked with indifference. The term “little Brixton” had struck a nerve. It was a name only one woman dared use for him.
And that woman was overseas. There was no way Harlee was her.
Brixton swiftly masked his initial reaction with a smooth facade.
“Do you really think you have the right to address me that way? However, for your sake, belle, I’ll overlook it this time.”
Harlee clamped down on her surging irritation and flashed the bracelet on her wrist at him.
“Belle? Is that what I taught you to call me?”
The sight of the bracelet sparked another flicker of panic in Brixton’s gaze, but he recovered quickly, his voice steady.

“Don’t play games with me. You’re nothing like her.”
Three years ago, Brixton had been sent abroad by his family for “training.” His drill sergeant turned out to be Harlee’s good friend, Tonya Santos.
Earlier, after reading through the gathered information on Brixton from her assistant, Harlee casually inquired about him with Tonya. Surprisingly, Tonya revealed that merely showing their matching friendship bracelet, which both of them had worn for nearly ten years, would make him extremely uneasy. Tonya had used to flaunt the bracelet during Brixton’s intense training sessions, leaving him with a lasting psychological mark. To this day, seeing the bracelet still unnerved him.
“Well, she’s overseas right now, but she’ll return in a few days…” Harlee said flatly.
“Ah!” Harlee couldn’t even finish her thought when Brixton, who had been subdued just seconds earlier, lost his composure.
His presence became threatening as he firmly grabbed her shoulder.
“What did you just say?” Brixton demanded.
Caught off guard, Harlee struggled to react as Brixton pulled her closer, his hold strong.
“Damn…” Harlee cursed under her breath.
Brixton was surprisingly strong.
Etta, watching secretly, was shocked.
How did Harlee come to know Brixton? Wasn’t Harlee merely a bumpkin? Or was it all just a facade? The thought made Etta shiver. If Harlee was more than she appeared to be, what could be done? She dreaded having to really deal with dangerous pythons in a few days, as per their previous discussion.
