How the Ice King Became my Doting Billionaire Husband -
Chapter 451
Brian was absolutely furious.
He was doing Morwenna a favor by not causing her trouble, purely out of respect for Wesley. Yet, now he was expected to protect her?
Attorney Wesley spoke calmly, "I haven't made a mistake. Aren't you and Stuart like brothers?"
Brian retorted, exasperated, "I may be Stuart's brother, but I'm certainly not Morwenna's bodyguard!"
Attorney Wesley suddenly turned to the butler standing nearby, "Please, take them inside and see to their injuries. We might need to impose for a little longer."
The butler nodded eagerly, "Of course, of course, it's no trouble at all."
He was well aware of how much his young master valued Ms. Winslet. Once, when the young master had gone into a rage, the butler had had no choice but to sedate him. If Ms. Winslet were harmed while Stuart was unconscious, the butler had no doubt the young master would lose his mind and take him down with him.
So, a little imposition was the least of his worries. Even if they took over the entire estate, he wouldn't object.
Once the butler had led Morwenna and Orson inside, only Attorney Wesley, Brian, and Matthew remained in the garden.
Making sure Morwenna couldn't overhear, Attorney Wesley lowered his voice, "Do you know what Stuart gave me before he left?"
The two men looked at him, puzzled.
Wesley leaned in, speaking even more quietly, "Stuart left me a will. Guess who inherits his estate if anything happens to him?"
Brian and Matthew's eyes widened as they both thought of the same person.
Morwenna!
Seeing their expressions, Wesley nodded, "That's right, Morwenna. Norbert and Stuart risked their lives to protect her, and yet you two mistreat her. Some brothers you are to Stuart."
They stood there, frozen.
They had never imagined this.
How could Stuart trust Morwenna so implicitly?
In their minds, Stuart would rather see the Hetfield family destroyed than let someone he didn't trust benefit from his legacy.
They knew Stuart was wary of everyone; even they, his brothers, didn't earn much
of his trust. Only Fletcher, who had been through thick and thin with Stuart, was trusted more.
But why Morwenna?
A woman with seemingly nothing to her name-what made her so special?
Regardless of their confusion, Attorney Wesley continued, "Now follow me inside and let's sort things out. I don't care what you think of Morwenna. When Stuart returns, you can ask him. But if you act on your own again, I'll personally see to it that you spend some time in jail."
Matthew and Brian shivered. Wesley had the power to make good on that promise.
Deflated, they followed Wesley into the grand hall of the mansion, leaving behind a garden strewn with the remnants of recent turmoil.
Inside, Claude had already awakened and was tending to Morwenna's injuries.
The butler stood by, nervously wiping his brow. Who would've thought that despite the full dose of sedative, the young master would wake so soon? If it hadn't been for Ms. Winslet, he'd certainly be in deep trouble now.
Claude meticulously removed the shards from Morwenna's palm.
Normally indifferent to his own pain or that of others, Claude now found himself deeply troubled. He had overestimated his abilities. After bringing Ms. Winslet out, he realized he couldn't protect her. He couldn't even maintain his own composure.
This realization weighed heavily on him.
When Brian and Matthew entered, Claude didn't bother to dismiss them. He was too preoccupied with the gravity of his failure.
