How the Ice King Became my Doting Billionaire Husband -
Chapter 469
Brian felt a flicker of relief upon hearing Greta's words.
His friend hadn't come, but Greta had. It seemed his friend had been stopped along the way.
From the look of things, Greta was aware that Morwenna was staying with him, yet she hadn't exposed them. She must have come to help.
Brian immediately turned around and began leading Greta back the way they had
come.
Under the cool night sky, he felt a rare sense of comfort.
Ever since Morwenna had gotten into trouble, Brian had been surrounded by
enemies. Finding someone willing to help was a rare stroke of luck.
Meanwhile, at Matthew's place, the door had been forced open.
Adelaide and her crew barged in.
Expecting a fierce battle, they entered with utmost caution only to replace Morwenna lying motionless on the bed.
Adelaide was overjoyed, feeling as though fortune had smiled upon her without much effort.
"Quick, take her away!"
Had she known Morwenna would be like this, she wouldn't have bothered bringing so many people along.
Adelaide cast a quick glance around the room and her face darkened. She smashed a vintage vase from the shelf before leading her team out.
The vase was a housewarming gift from Stuart when Matthew first bought the place. Back then, she was still working alongside Stuart, helping him with various matters.
Everything had been going so well, and now it was all falling apart.
It was all Morwenna's fault.
Ever since Morwenna showed up, everything had changed. Without her, Adelaide would still be the envied Ms. Gallagher.
Her gaze at Morwenna was venomous.
If Morwenna wasn't still useful, Adelaide would have set the place on fire to rid herself of her.
With Morwenna unconscious, the group left swiftly.
Brian and Greta returned, but as soon as they stepped out of the elevator, Brian sensed something was wrong.
He hurried over to replace the lock on the door had been tampered with.
His face turned pale as he rushed into the apartment, heading straight for Morwenna's room.
He flung open the door and found the room empty. Brian's heart sank.
Morwenna was gone!
He had only been out for fifteen minutes to visit the neighboring complex, and now Morwenna had vanished.
What was he going to do?
How would he explain this to Stuart, or to his friends, that he had lost Morwenna? Brian stood there, dazed and overwhelmed by the situation.
Greta, who had followed him in, quickly assessed the room with a calm demeanor. Nothing was out of place, indicating the intruders had come solely for Morwenna. Greta gave Brian a sharp nudge with her foot. "What are you standing there for? Get moving! You were only downstairs for a few minutes. They had to avoid being seen and pick the lock, which takes time, especially with a complex security lock like yours. They might not be far."
"Oh! Right, they might not be far. Let's go after them now!"
Greta and Brian charged downstairs.
While descending, Greta was already on her phone, calling in reinforcements.
Brian didn't stop her from alerting others. Morwenna had been taken, which meant the situation was already compromised. The number of people who knew didn't matter anymore.
Brian also contacted Matthew immediately.
The priority now was to replace Morwenna.
He couldn't bear the thought of losing her while she was under his protection.
The pair sprinted downstairs and searched frantically, but the night was eerily quiet, and there was no one in sight.
Brian refused to give up, searching every corner.
Meanwhile, Greta headed to the security station.
The security guards were on duty around the clock. They had registered when
they entered, so they might have some information.
