How the Ice King Became my Doting Billionaire Husband -
Chapter 470
By now, it was eleven in the evening. The security guard, ever diligent, stood watch at the gate, wide awake and alert despite the late hour.
Greta approached him, politely asking, "Sir, did you happen to see anyone leave with an unconscious girl just now?"
The security guard nodded, a look of sympathy crossing his face. "Are you a relative of that girl too? They left a little while ago, saying she had a sudden attack. It seemed serious, so they rushed her to the hospital."
Greta took a deep breath, staring out into the night beyond the complex. The darkness swallowed Morwenna whole.
Morwenna had been taken away.
In that moment, Greta exuded a powerful presence as she looked into the night. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "Hello, Chief? There's been a kidnapping here on the South Bank. The suspect has been gone no more than ten minutes. Could you help seal off all the vehicle exits nearby? Yes, that's right. The victim is my friend, Morwenna."
If she couldn't replace Morwenna, she'd make sure no one got out of the area.
She would gather enough people to search thoroughly. She refused to believe they could spirit Morwenna away.
Unlike Phineas, the villain of the piece, Greta had no need to hide her intentions. She could search for the kidnapped Morwenna openly.
When Brian came rushing over, clearly distraught, Greta had already set her plans in motion.
"Greta, they've gotten away. I can't replace her," Brian said, frustration evident in his voice.
Greta glanced at Brian, her eyes critical. "You always act like you're the smartest one in the room, playing dumb while outsmarting everyone. So why panic now?"
Brian was genuinely flustered, his mind in disarray.
Of course, if anyone else had spoken to him like that, he would have snapped back. But not Greta or Stuart. He never dared to cross the two who led like a brother and sister team.
Greta, not wasting time on further jabs, continued, "The guard said they've taken her out. I've had all the surrounding exits locked down and we're conducting a thorough search. Get in touch with everyone you can. We need as many people as possible to scour the area."
"Ah, you've locked it down? Greta, you're always so thorough. I'll get people on it right away. But if we make such a big scene, Phineas will definitely catch wind of it."
Greta rolled her eyes at Brian. "Morwenna's been kidnapped, likely by Phineas's people. Does it matter if he knows? By making a fuss, we might even see if Phineas takes any action to replace her himself. We can gauge his involvement based on his reaction."
Brian slapped his own forehead, trying to clear his head.
He knew these things, of course, but his nerves were getting the better of him.
Once he had people organized, Brian asked, "Greta, what do we do next?"
"Now? We need to check the surveillance footage, see if any suspicious characters entered the complex today."
Brian had brought Morwenna here earlier that morning. Since they were targeting her, the intruder must have slipped in at some point during the day. Checking the footage might yield some clues.
Meanwhile, the news reached a signal station on the outskirts of a remote area.
The personnel waiting outside relayed the information to Fletcher.
Fletcher, on night watch, suddenly stood up, alarmed. "Something's wrong! Morwenna's in trouble."
