How the Ice King Became my Doting Billionaire Husband -
Chapter 485
Morwenna dashed towards Greta, a sudden burst of energy animating her like never before. Previously unresponsive to anyone's calls, she now raced across the chaotic scene.
Greta, still in the midst of a brawl, glanced around with a sly grin, as if she'd just hit the jackpot.
Stuart, too engrossed in the unfolding drama to feel any jealousy towards Greta, held his breath, watching anxiously as Morwenna reached safety.
Meanwhile, Adelaide was losing her composure. Seeing Morwenna so close to escaping, she couldn't resist taking a few steps forward, reaching out to grab her.
Gunshots rang out.
One bullet grazed Adelaide's arm, forcing her to clutch the wound and retreat, helplessly watching as Morwenna made it to Greta's side. Fury boiled within her, wishing she could transform into a beast and tear Morwenna apart.
Greta, seeing Morwenna arrive, swiftly pulled her behind, shielding her with a protective arm. With the agility of someone used to wearing heels, she kicked away an attacker lunging towards them.
Stuart and others quickly formed a protective circle around Greta and Morwenna, creating a secure haven amid the chaos.
In that moment, Morwenna, heedless of the danger, urgently asked from behind Greta, "Greta, what did you just say? Norbert Hetfield isn't dead? Is it true?"
Greta looked puzzled. "Of course, it's true. Did someone tell you Norbert was dead?"
As she spoke, Greta shot a suspicious glance over at Brian.
Fletcher and the others turned their stern faces towards Brian as well.
Brian hastily shook his head. "Why are you all looking at me? I didn't say anything like that! Norbert's will was broadcast to everyone. Until Morwenna is found, Phineas would never let Norbert die. Everyone knows that!"
Indeed, everyone knew, except Morwenna.
Her last memory was sharing a final drink with Norbert Hetfield. When she awoke, Claude had taken her away Claude told her Norbert had passed away, a lie meant to keep her compliant.
Having seen Norbert gravely ill and watched his eyes close silently, Morwenna
never suspected it was a fabrication by Claude to hold her captive.
Brian and Matthew, unaware of Morwenna's despondency over Norbert's supposed death, were too busy with their own survival, and Brian's disdain for Morwenn@ meant no one offered her the truth.
It was Greta, an outsider, who discerned the reality and spoke up.
Suddenly overwhelmed, Morwenna stammered, "I have to go back! I need to see Norbert Hetfield!"
Her arrival behind Greta brought a temporary truce between Phineas and Stuart's factions.
Phineas, his face clouded,
threatened Morwenna, "Morwenna, Norbert isn't dead yet, but he's not
far from it. I've kept him alive at great cost. Unless you come with me now, I'll call the doctor and order the treatment stopped!"
He brandished his phone, ready to make the call if Morwenna refused.
Morwenna panicked. She didn't care what happened to her in Phineas' grasp; she only wanted Norbert Hetfield to be okay.
Instinctively, she took a step towards Phineas, only to be halted by Stuart's firm grip.
Seeing it was Stuart, Morwenna frowned, shaking off his hand. His hand was already scarred and unbandaged, and her action reopened his wounds, blood staining both their hands.
But Morwenna didn't spare it a glance. Her eyes were no longer on Stuart.
