Stuart felt a pang of bitterness but quickly explained, "Norbert isn't in Phineas's hands anymore. I've already moved him someplace safe."

Stuart had long known how important Norbert was to Morwenna, so he had taken precautions well in advance. As he orchestrated Morwenna's rescue, he also ensured Norbert's safety.

Phineas sneered, "Impossible. Stuart, are you lying to this woman again?"

Stuart stared icily at Phineas. "Impossible? Why don't you call and replace out?"

Phineas's expression shifted, and he immediately dialed his phone. Whatever he heard on the other end only deepened his scowl.

Without needing further confirmation, everyone could guess what news the call had brought. Phineas, his face darkening, dialed another number.

As soon as the call connected, Phineas spat out angrily, "Ryan, you're my own son, and you dare betray me!"

On the other end, Ryan's voice was laden with sadness. "Dad, please stop this. We already have more than enough. The person who's seriously ill is your father, my grandfather. We shouldn't let our greed blind us to our family's welfare."

A sixth grader could grasp what Phineas seemed to miss.

Phineas was furious. "What do you know! Everything I've done is for you, for our family's future."

"I don't want any of it, Dad. Do you want me to grow up and treat you the same way you're treating Grandpa now?"

Phineas paused, unable to retort.

In frustration, he cursed, "You ungrateful child!" and slammed the phone down. Yet everyone present clearly understood-Norbert had indeed been moved.

No one had anticipated Ryan siding with Stuart to facilitate Norbert's escape. Ryan, after all, was Phineas's own son.

Realizing the day's battles were lost, Phineas knew he couldn't force Morwenna to hand over her shares with Stuart back in the picture. Though the situation looked grim, he wasn't entirely defeated. The rift between Morwenna and Stuart meant she wouldn't support Stuart, and her shares were out of reach for both Phineas and Stuart.

With a sweeping gesture, Phineas commanded, "Let's go!" Before leaving, he ensured Adelaide was taken as well; after all, he had

invested heavily in her, and wil net

Morwenna, he'd need to recoup his losses.

As Phineas departed, Stuart collapsed. Fletcher jumped in shock and rushed to his aid, while others crowded around in concern.

Morwenna, however, tugged on Greta's sleeve, whispering anxiously, "Greta, can I see Norbert Hetfield now?"

Greta glanced between Morwenna and the fallen Stuart, hesitating. "Are you sure you want to go now?"

Without hesitation, Morwenna nodded, unconcerned about Stuart on the floor.

Stuart, though weak, managed to say, "The old man is at Lakeside Estates. Greta, take her there, and bring Dr. Thompson too."

Uncertain about what had transpired

between them, Greta decided to comply with Stuart's request and escorted Morwenna and Dr.

Thompson to Lakeside Estates.

With numerous people attending to Stuart, Greta felt assured he'd be okay. She

led Morwenna away without looking back.
