Chapter 10:.

Hugo and Angelín went to the old man Rafael’s house. He was very happy when he heard an employee say that his grandson was waiting for him in the living room. But when he saw his company his face darkened.

“Until at last you deign to come and visit this poor old man.”

“Hello grandfather” greeted Hugo and Angelín in unison.

“What brings you here.” Angelín extended the box with the cups and tea.

“I just returned to the country and wanted to come and say hello to grandpa ” spoke the girl and the old man called an employee to take the gift without even looking at it.

“You shouldn’t have bothered ” replied Rafael curtly.

“Grandfather you wanted me to come to behave like that ” scolded Hugo.

“I told you to come to see me alone or with other company, a married man should not be visiting with another woman besides his wife”. Angelín opened her eyes in confusion.

“Are you married Lolo?” she asked looking at Hugo, but he didn’t have time to answer because Rafael interrupted him.

“What kind of way is that to call a man married? Watch your language miss, it could lead to misunderstandings.”

“Grandfather, I have always called Hugo that way, ever since we were children.”

“That was a long time ago. You are adults now and Hugo is married. So you should change your way of addressing him.

“Yes sir ” muttered Angelín with his head down.

Hugo became furious and grabbed the girl by one hand.

“Let’s go, they don’t know how to take care of visitors here.”

Rafael called him and told him to stop, but the boy paid no attention, got into his car and they drove off.

Sara and Emily arrived at the room after lunch. They put away the groceries while they talked. At the bottom of a bag was a black box, she took it out and opened it, inside was a golden pocket watch, with a carved phoenix on the lid, she put it back in the box to take it to Rafael, it pained her to have broken the rates, she was sure the old man would love them, all because of that man.

She stopped thinking about it, she didn’t want to spend her time thinking about that man, he didn’t deserve it. She said goodbye to Emily and told her she would come back later, she left the residence and took a cab, when she arrived at Rafael’s house she thought she saw a car leaving, but she didn’t pay attention to it.

When she entered the house, she had planned to call one of the employees to tell the master that she had arrived, but she didn’t need to, Rafael’s voice could be heard fighting in the living room, while his butler tried to get him to calm down and take a glass of water with a pill.

“What happened grandfather?” asked Sara worriedly.

“This grandson of mine, who only gives me headaches ” replied the old man holding a hand to his heart.

“You have to calm down grandpa, drink the water, swallow the pill. Let’s go to bed, you must rest.”

“Thank you for coming my daughter.”

“Rest grandpa, I’ll be here when you wake up.”

Sara sat by Rafael’s bedside and waited for the painkiller to take effect and for him to fall asleep. Once she verified that he was resting she left the bedroom.

“Could you give me the number of Señor Rafael’s grandson.” asked Sara to the butler.

“Would you like your husband’s number?” he asked incredulously.

“Yes.”

The butler gave it to her and she left the room and walked to the garden. She took a deep breath and dialed the number, this would be the first time she had spoken to her husband and for some reason she was a little nervous.

The phone rang twice and on the third ring your man’s seductive voice came on the line.

“Hello” Sara went blank not knowing what to say for a few seconds, finally she caught her breath and spoke.

“Good afternoon Mr. Moretti, I know you don’t know me, this is your wife.” there was silence on the other end of the line and then the man spoke again.

“What do you want?

“I don’t want anything, I’m calling to tell you that it doesn’t matter to me that you don’t want to know me, nor if you hate me, I’m not the least bit interested if you spend months out of the country, but I ask you please that if you come to see grandfather, do it to make him happy and not to upset him and cause him a crisis, if you are going to behave that way stay away from Mr. Rafael, his state of health is very delicate and it is very easy to suffer a relapse”.

“How is he now?

“Rested, I gave him a sedative and put him to bed to rest. I hope this situation won’t happen again, Mr. Moretti.” He hung up the phone.

Hugo stared at the cell phone, he couldn’t believe that woman had been able to yell at him and hang up the call.
