Chapter 100:

Beatriz was concentrating on explaining her recipe when suddenly she felt herself fall to the ground and something pressed down on her, she felt was a gunshot and then the screams of people.

“Are you ok?” asked the man above her, Beatriz recognized his voice, it was the military man from last night, she shook her head yes and then he added:

“I have to go after the Sniper, don’t get up off the ground yet, if you are going to get out try to do it crouched down.”

Beatriz nodded again and the man left.

Eduardo did not know why he had chosen to save her and risk his job, but a voice in his head prevented him from abandoning her to her fate, when he was sure she was safe he ran to the exit where the man would have to try to escape, people were running and screaming in terror and that made his job difficult, but it was not difficult to recognize him.

He had been after him for years, despite the cap and sunglasses Eduardo knew it was him and ran to tie him up, the man tried to flee, he dropped the briefcase and got rid of all the weight trying to go faster while the general chased him.

The criminal managed to escape from the hotel, but Eduardo was on his heels and when he thought he would lose him he discovered that his team had the hotel surrounded along with the police, the zipper had no choice but to raise his hands and surrender while Eduardo caught up with him and put the handcuffs on him.

Beatriz left the hotel when the policemen told her it was safe and asked her to go to the police station to make a statement and she accepted, as she was getting into a cab she saw the general surrounded by other agents, they were greeting him and congratulating him, she thought about approaching him and thanking him for saving her life, but she thought she would see him later at the police station, so she preferred him to be alone.

Unfortunately she did not see him again and when she asked for him she was informed that he belonged to a special unit, that it was unlikely that he went there, she was also told that they had found messages between the criminal and her cousin, as well as a money transfer, so all the clues indicated that her cousin had hired him to kill her.

Beatriz could not believe it, it was true that their relationship was not the best, but she could not understand how someone she had known all her life was capable of doing something like this.

She decided that she did not want to stay one more second in that country, so she went to the hotel, picked up her things and left for the airport, before getting on the plane she sent a message to Sara and Emily and told them that she missed them and wanted to see them, that she was arriving in a few hours, her friends promised to pick her up at the airport and Beatriz felt a little better, after all she was not alone anymore, she had her friends.

Eduardo received congratulations from all his colleagues and his bosses who offered him a stimulus, a raise, a promotion and a vacation, he accepted them because he really needed them, he thought it was time to return to his country, he had not seen his friends for a long time and they were the only family he had left, but before preparing his trip he decided to go to the hotel and see how the girl was, but when he arrived at his room there was only one employee cleaning everything and she informed him that the guest had already left.

Eduardo regretted having taken so long, he would have liked to see her again, maybe know her name, he could investigate her, but he felt that would be harassment, so he did not do it, maybe someday they would see each other again, maybe their destiny was to meet.

That afternoon Eduardo and Beatriz took the same plane back to their city, although they did not see each other again neither of them could stop thinking about the other. When the plane landed Beatriz went to the bathroom and Eduardo thought he saw a familiar silhouette, but paid no attention to it.

At the airport Nadia, Sara and Emily were waiting for their friend with a huge banner

“Welcome home, Beatriz, the best chef in the world”.

Eduardo was the first one to leave he walked past them in the waiting room because he knew no one knew of his arrival so they wouldn’t come to pick him up, he saw the beautiful girls holding a sign and thought it was a bit childish, so he walked past them and went on his way.

Beatriz came out a few minutes later and couldn’t help but smile when she saw her friends. The girls were walking out of the airport chatting animatedly when Nadia looked to the left and said.

“Mrs. Emily that is not your husband, Mr. Martin” they all turned to look and saw Martin walking up to a tall tan skinned man and greeting him as if they were great friends.

Edward sighed as he found Martin leaning back from his car, he didn’t know how his friend had found out about his return, but Martin was like that, nothing happened in town that he wasn’t aware of.

“Welcome home” he told him and gave him a hug. As he hugged his friend he saw his wife coming out of the airport with her friends.

“Look what a coincidence there’s someone I’d love to introduce you to.”

he took his friend by the arm and walked to catch up with the girls.

“Eduardo let me introduce you to my wife Emily and her friends.”

But Eduardo’s eyes were not fixed on Emily, nor Sara, his eyes collided with Beatriz’s as a smile appeared on his lips and his heart filled with a feeling he was not able to describe.
