Chapter 66:.

Hugo was standing guard for the rest of the afternoon in front of Sara’s restaurant, anyone who saw him could have thought that the CEO of the Moretti Group decided to give up his hard work to become a custodian.

Three hours after the discussion with Sara she finally left the premises, he had planned to talk to her, but unfortunately she was not alone, the snake, as Hugo had just baptized José because according to him he was skinny, long and poisonous, had gone out with her.

Hugo watched them talking, Sara smiled naturally and Hugo wondered why he didn’t see her smile like that when she was with him. A few minutes later a cab arrived and Sara and Nadia got into it, while José stood watching the car as it left.

Hugo debated between following his wife or having a little conversation with the poisonous snake, but decided that his wife was more important than any reptile.

Sara and Nadia went to the mall first, Sara didn’t get out of the cab, while Nadia went out and soon returned with a box, then got back in the car and they drove off towards Elder Moretti’s house.

When he got out of his car he heard laughter inside the mansion, it had not been more than a couple of hours since he had visited his grandfather and he had refused to see him, but now Rafael was sitting in the living room, chatting and laughing quietly with Sara.

Hugo didn’t understand why his wife had to show that beautiful smile to every man except him. He felt saddened by his wife’s and his own grandfather’s rejection.

“I see you’re back,” Rafael said to Hugo when he saw him enter the room. The laughter had stopped and everyone was serious with a funeral face.

“If I came back, I wanted to see if this time you would receive me or if it was that you were indisposed and that’s why you didn’t attend me, but I can see that you are only sick to see me.”

“I didn’t tell you that I didn’t attend you because I was sick, I made it very clear that I just didn’t want to see you.”

“But why are you only mad at me, I wasn’t the only one who lied to you, Sara also hid the accident from you and then went to take revenge before coming to see you” Hugo spoke angrily, throwing a tantrum like a three year old baby.

“Do you think I’m only angry because they hid the accident from me? Well no, I am furious because your promiscuity almost caused Sara’s death, because you don’t think with your head and only with your pants” laughed Rafael angrily and after yelling at him he started to cough.

Sara who had been silent since Hugo entered, ran quickly and poured a glass of water and handed it to Elder Moretti.

“That’s in the past now grandpa, I’m fine, and that’s all that matters, go on drink the water and stop worrying.” Hugo saw how Sara worried about his grandfather, even without having any blood ties, suddenly he remembered the first time she called him to yell at him for making Rafael angry, Hugo understood that they were very fond of each other and that he had been a bad grandson to neglect his grandfather that way.

“I’m sorry grandfather, I’m sorry Sara, please forgive me, I promise not to cause trouble in the future.”

Hugo knelt down in front of the old man and the young woman. Rafael felt moved, he had always seen his grandson with the cold demeanor of a CEO, from an early age he became arrogant and distant and today for the first time he saw him apologize sincerely.

Instead, Sara saw him on his knees and felt like making fun but out of respect for Rafael she just rolled her eyes and laughed in her heart, how foolish it would be on Hugo’s part to think that she would excuse him with a simple sorry.

“That’s enough, stand up, don’t let anyone see the President on his knees” Rafael told her who couldn’t stand to see his grandson in that position.

Hugo had intentions to continue with the subject until he made Sara forgive him in front of the grandfather, but Sara was quicker and changed the conversation.

“Look grandpa I brought you a present.”

Sara extended the box and when Hugo saw what was inside he was astonished, it was a set of cups, identical to the one she had broken on another occasion when Angelín wanted it, Hugo noticed once again the engraved phoenix logo and felt he recognized it, but he didn’t remember from where.

Sara spoke again and snapped him out of his thoughts “I had ordered them for you a long time ago, but due to a small inconvenience” Sara gave Hugo a murderous look, but it was so fleeting that Rafael didn’t notice it “now is when I can deliver them to you”.

Rafael looked at the set of cups and was amazed, they were divine and each one had a phrase from his favorite famous characters.

“Thank you Sara, they are beautiful”. Rafael immediately sent for some tea and ordered it to be served in his new cups.

Hugo was silent and came to the conclusion that Sara must hate him, he had done too many things to hurt her and coincidentally she was always being bullied by women around her.

The broken rate game was just a reminder of the past and coupled with the accident he had to work very hard if he wanted to conquer his wife. Hugo also compared Rafael’s reaction when he received the gift to when Angelín gave him another set of cups, it was obvious that the others did not interest him, he did not even look at them before ordering them to be taken away.

Hugo knew that his grandfather loved Sara very much, and he felt something that he still couldn’t explain, he had to get Sara to forgive him and leave the past behind, so they could create a future together.
