When Sara woke up she saw Jose sitting next to her watching his phone, she looked around for Hugo, but they were alone in the room, there was no sign of her husband. Jose noticed that she woke up and walked over.

“How are you feeling?”

“I’m fine, no one has come to see me.”

“If you’re asking about Mr. Moretti, he did come, but he left after talking to the doctor. I think he thought you were pregnant and he didn’t put on a good face when he found out you had birth control.” Sara kept silent, she had discovered that Hugo wanted to have children, she found out by poking the condoms, that’s why she decided to put the contraceptive, she didn’t expect to have those adverse reactions.

“It’s okay, don’t worry. The doctor said when I can leave.”

“He says you should stay tonight, they already removed the implant.”

“Thanks for everything Jose, go home and get some rest, I’ll call Emily now so she can stay with me.”

Jose thought about refusing to leave, but figured it wouldn’t be a good idea to stay all night in a room alone with a married woman, so he agreed and left.

Emily was left alone staring at the ceiling, she didn’t really intend to call Emily, she just said that so she wouldn’t insist on staying. She thought maybe Hugo would come back later, she picked up the phone thinking to send him a message, but she didn’t know what to say to him, so she turned it off again and put it aside.

The next morning Sara left the hospital, but nobody came to pick her up, she checked her phone several times, but Hugo had not written her, disappointed she went to the Villa to discover that it was empty and there was no trace of her husband, even his clothes were gone. Sara felt a tightness in her chest when she saw that she had finally lost him. She decided to go to the company and talk to him, clarify whatever was happening, but the Hugo who received her was not the same of the last few months, he did not smile flirtatiously at her, nor did he try to approach her, the man she had in front of her today was the man she met for the first time, he was cold and not polite at all.

“Say quickly what you want, I don’t have time to waste.”

He told her without even looking at her, his eyes fixed on the documents in front of him.

“I know you heard about the device, I did it because I’m not ready to have children, plus our relationship has been in chaos from the beginning, it’s not a good environment for a baby. You don’t have to get upset and walk away just because of that, we can go on as we are. And maybe at some point I’ll be ready to take the next step.”

Hugo listened to her in silence, he didn’t believe a single word she said, he was aware that she didn’t see him as her husband, she didn’t see him with love, for her, he was just a piece of meat to satisfy her needs, and she was already tired of fighting in vain.

“I’m not interested in going back to the way we were. I’m not interested in having anything with you, enough was enough, let’s finish the bet so I can win, you sign the divorce, hand over what belongs to me and get out of my life forever.

I will give you alimony and we can come to an agreement, but the shares of the company belong to me and although your restaurants have done well everything you got was thanks to me, to my name, if you had not used my connections you would not have gotten anywhere, you owe it all to me and the Moretti name, so this bet is off.”

When he spoke his eyes were cold, And they watched her with contempt, Sara knew that he was serious and that he didn’t want to continue with her anymore, so she decided not to insist and give him what he wanted.

After all she knew that her achievements were hers, but it hurt her that he thought that way, all her life she had always heard the same words, that she owed her achievements to someone else, she was tired of always working and striving so that no one would recognize her work, but she would keep fighting until she proved to the world that they were wrong and that she could succeed on her own.
