Rise of the Crusader
Chapter 117

117 Jersey Saint Hospital V

Wesley’s eyes squinted, and without delay, he brought his cell phone from his pocket.

He was about to dial the number that was on his speed goal when suddenly the light was turned back on. Followed by the light was the smoke that was outside, vanishing almost as though it were never there in the first place.

“Wheeeww... They almost got me right there. I thought we were under attack.” One of the directors blurted with a smile then on his face.

The man then sat on the seat with his hands clasped behind his neck and his legs on the table.

As the light was back on and the smoke was gone, the man and everyone was quick to put the event that occur behind them.

Meanwhile, Wesley still stood in front of the window. He stared at the outside of the building with his thought rather unknown and after a few seconds, he turned around.

“Wesley, where are you going to?”

“We still have the matter of the hospital renovation and expansion to discuss, what do you think you’re doing!”

Wesley was already at the exit door when he heard those words. He paused and turned towards the others.

.....

“We can talk about the developments later, right now, I believe there’s something dubious going on in the hospital,” Wesley responded.

The directors were left awestruck by what Wesley had just said. Wesley was right about to head out of the meeting room when one of their voices rang out, halting Wesley from leaving.

“Shouldn’t the first thing we do is inform Sonia about it, what do you think you’re doing, Wesley!”

Wesley sneered.

“Inform Sonia, and then receive the scolding of our lives, or perhaps even kill us, who knows what that crazy woman could do,” Wesley said. “Either way, that’s not a risk I’m willing to take.”

“She was just here a few moments ago, and we didn’t inform her about this, and you think she’d spare us? Think about it, if any skeptical activities are going on in the hospital, then it must have been happening for quite some time, meaning right under our nose.”

“If Sonia is to learn about this after all the resources she has given us, I bet with you, it will be messy. So, I will go handle this problem like I always do, while you all sit there with your expensive suits on.”

With that said, Wesley dashed out of the room. He slammed the door in fury as he left the room.

Wesley headed directly to his office and even though he had just left there not so long, he wanted to be certain that whatever it was that occurred didn’t tamper with the secret room.

It took a few minutes and Wesley arrived inside the room. The secret room was soon opened and without delay, Wesley rushed into it.

“Oh... My god!”

With his legs trembling in fear, and his body already covered in sweats, Wesley uttered those three mighty words.

He placed his hand on his head and sat abruptly on the floor. Followed by his movement were tears oozing out of his eyes, the tears just kept coming and Wesley simply let them.

The room that was filled with all sorts of items that were able to feed an entire city, perhaps even states was completely empty. The value of the secret room was massive, and within minutes it plummeted.

Wesley bit his lower lips so hard that blood oozed from his mouth. After a brief moment, he was able to lift himself from the floor and stand on his feet.

Then one step after the other, Wesley headed to the staircase. With pain and anguish evident on his face, Wesley moved slowly. He placed his hand on the wall as he walked from the staircase to the office.

“Ah...” Wesley wanted to scream, but regardless of how hard he tried to, he wasn’t able to.

Those items in the secret room were the sole reason why he and his family still existed in the world. And with them already gone, Sonia was going to shred not only him but every person that he knew.

Wesley held his cell phone, he stared at the name on his call log and was completely lost on the next move to make.

Now that the situation was like this, the best option he had was to flee from the city, but thinking about his children who were being followed by Sonia, he wasn’t able to make that decision.

Bang!

Wesley was still battling with the thought of how he was going to handle this dilemma when the office door was slammed open and two figures wearing surgical gowns barged in.

The both of them had sweats on their forehead and a second after they saw Wesley, their eyes lit up, and they said.

“Doctor Wesley, the machines in the hospital have all been destroyed.”

“Every single machine, instruments, they are all gone. We have lost it all, and we have a lot of people who have yet to receive their surgery.”

The two doctors from the neurological department and the cardiac surgical department exclaimed. Both of them had a look of urgency on their faces as they spoke to Wesley.

And as if the problem they had just listed wasn’t enough, the female doctor from the cardiac surgical department said.

“Doctor Wesley, if we don’t do anything about this quickly, they will be a lot of people losing their lives in the hospital. And when that occurs, it is only a matter of time before the government shut this place down.”

Wesley clenched his hand into a tight fist when he heard the woman. He knew she was saying the truth as once the death count in a hospital, especially one that was a public hospital went to a staggering height, the government was going to step in.

And no amount of bribery was going to stop them from shutting down the hospital.

“Doctor Wesley?”

As there was no response from Wesley despite the words they had spoken, the two doctors spoke in a rather loud voice.

Wesley was pulled out of his trance state soon after, he stared at the two in front of him and said.

“I will have new machines in the hospital shortly. I will need you to head back to your department and calm everyone’s mind that it’s all going to be alright, and the directors are already working on it.”

“The hospital will return back to normal very soon.”

A nod from the two doctors in front of Wesley, then afterward the both of them rushed out of the hospital afterward.

As for Wesley, he heaved a deep breath and called one of the medical companies he was familiar with.

Tryker was one of the most famous medical companies in the world, it was also the company that Jersey saint hospital bought all its supplies from.

Wesley already had his contact in the hospital, and with a few calls, he had purchased the equipment the hospital needed.

After a few seconds, Wesley placed his cell phone back into his pocket. He stared at the bookshelf, gulped hard, and then walked out of the office.

To Wesley, the funds and the equipment lost in the hospital were of extreme importance, but at the moment, the equipment was of priority.

The funds could be handled later, but the equipment had to be installed in the hospital right away, or else there were going to be shut down by the government.

“Wesley, have you informed Sonia about this?”

As Wesley left his office, he was soon met by the directors on the seventh floor. And once they saw him, they hurried towards him quickly.

The sixth and fifth floors have been wrecked completely, there’s blood all over the place, and the facilities there have also been destroyed. I wasn’t able to go into the other areas, but the places I have seen are horrible.”

“Yes, Wesley, I’m afraid this isn’t a problem we can handle on our own, we will have to tell Sonia about this one.”

Wesley stared at the six in front of him and then shook his head. “The Funds... Are gone.”

It was only just a few words, but when the others heard it, the expression on their faces went from concerned to horrified. A few of them staggered backward, while some stumbled to the floor.

“No... No, it can’t be!”

The director who spoke was about to barge into the office when Wesley held him.

“Forget about it,” Wesley said. “Everything is gone, we have been robbed. If Sonia comes, to forget about the hospital, she is going to kill us first.”

The female director clenched her hand on her head, bypassing her hair, and then dig her nails into her skull so hard that blood was coming out of her head.

Wesley understood why the horrified look was on their faces because like himself, the others also had one of their own monitored by Sonia.

“Not to worry, I have a plan.”

Forcing a smile to appear on his face, Wesley said, “I’m not one hundred percent certain of its success, but if we can pull this off, Sonia won’t be able to get her hands on us or the others.”

Just as Wesley was able to put the six directors into despair, he also seemed to be able to pull them out of it. The faces of the six of them lit up when they heard Wesley, and they immediately pulled themselves together.

“What is the plan, Wesley?”

The question had just been asked when three figures came out of the seventh-floor elevator and began racing towards Wesley’s office.

“Doctor Wesley, we have a problem.”

The nurse breathed in and out, trying to regain her composure, and once that was accomplished her voice rang out.

“The hospital is filled with people, all seeking medical help. From the first floor to the entrance door, and several others are fighting their way inside.”

A few hours ago, those words would have brought a smile to appear on Wesley’s face, but now it was more or less akin to the devil’s whisper.
