I screamed as loud as I could, unable to run as the guard tackled me into the ground, pinning me there as my body trembled in fear. I should have seen this coming; I should've escaped whilst I had the chance.

I tried to push the hellhound away, but he was too strong, just like all the others I had faced, I couldn't compare to his strength.

"Ryker!" I bellowed, hoping that he would save me.

Without my power I was as good as dead, I couldn't fight without it.

The black-eyed vampire smirked, and evil glint in his eye as he knelt beside me, "No one is going to save you, filthy fae."

My eyes widened as the guard moved, his eyes roaming the small area beside the house, watching for anyone who might try to stop them. But even as other hellhounds saw me on the ground, they just walked past, barely taking a second glance my way. I was all alone.

No one would come to my rescue.

If I had just stuck to the rules this would have never happened. I should've stayed hidden.

The vampire lifted me from the ground, slamming me against the side of the mansion whilst I whimpered, my heart racing as I tried to push him away with my hands. Desperate to escape.

He laughed at me, leaning forward as he scented my neck, "I am going to enjoy this."

I screamed again, my throat raw and dry, my desperate cries for help turning more than a few heads of those who walked by. But still, no one came to help.

No one dared to intervene.

"Stop this right now..." I manage to say, the immortal creature scraping his fangs along the flesh of my neck. "If Ryker replaces out what you have done he'll kill you."

The black-eyed beast laughed again, his hands roaming over my exposed skin, the blanket I had held around my shoulders long since abandoned.

The cold was seeping into my bones, but it wasn't the only reason I shivered, I had seen what was left of those who were fed on by these beasts. And it wasn't a pretty sight.

I look up at the creature as he licked his lips, knowing I only had seconds before he drained me dry, and with no one coming to save me I had to think fast.

I had to save myself. Just as I always had.

I strained my legs, pushing myself further into the wall, using it for balance as I forced my knee straight up, catching the vampire in the place no man wants to be kicked. He grunts, releasing me as he leans forward, momentarily winded.

I use the opportunity to slam my fist into his jaw, the creature growling as I push him backwards, making enough of a gap to make it past him.

The hellhounds glances back at me, snarling viciously as he steps forward, ready to give me back to the creature. But I wasn't about to let him. I was ready to fight.

It was life or death, and I wasn't about to give them the satisfaction of giving up, I was going to fight with everything I had in me. No matter the consequences.

The hellhound rushed at me, tackling my body into the ground as I cried out, unable to move out of the way in time. I slammed my fist into the side of his face as we crashed into the snow, making him angrier as he grabbed my arms, pinning them above my head.

Tears spring to my eyes as I kick my legs, trying to knock him to the side, but he wouldn't budge, and the vampire had recovered quicker than I had hoped.

"I'm going to make this hurt." He growls, wiping away what little blood I had caused when I hit him in the nose.

"So am I." Comes a ferocious growl from somewhere behind me.

The hellhound drags me to my feet, shoving me away from him in a blind panic, "M- My King."

I look up, crying in relief to see Maddox stood a few feet away from me, Suer next to him. I rush forward, throwing my arms around his middle and pulling him close, my fear quickly being replaced with joy.

"Suer, take Elora back to her room." Maddox growls, shaking in anger. "I will deal with the traitors."

"Traitors?" The undead creature's black eyes widened. "You can't be serious! She's a filthy fae!"

Maddox moves faster than the naked eye could track, placing me in Suer's arms and pinning the vampire to the wall, similar to how I how I had been held.

"She's your Queen!" Maddox shouts in his face, snapping his neck the second he opened his mouth to speak again. "Suer! I said take her back to her room." He reminds my guard.

Suer nods, cradling me as though I was a delicate child and turns around, carrying me towards the back door, the screams of the hellhound being ripped apart loud enough for the entire army to hear.

I shudder, leaning closer into Suer, the cold set deep in my bones. Or maybe it was the adrenaline wearing off.

I wasn't sure.

But I was grateful Maddox had found me when he did, if he hadn't I would be dead.
