Chapter 5:.

“William, why are you here? I told you not to come.” Suddenly, a soft female voice addressed William. He quickly tucked the report in his suit pocket and smiled.

“Lucy, I’m worried, so I’m here, what’s going on?”.

The woman was as beautiful as her voice. Her eyebrows were so delicate, and her big bright eyes were in her pretty face. However, her little red lips showed her discomfort, “William, there’s nothing we can do now. The doctor has said I have to have an operation, I may never have a chance to have a baby! Your father won’t let me marry you!”.

“Don’t worry, Lucy. We can go to America for treatment.” William patted Lucy’s shoulder in consolation, “Come on, let’s go home.”

Sherry pulled up a cab in a hurry the moment she stepped out of the hospital. After getting into the car, she realized she had lost her report. She must have dropped it when she ran into that gentleman.

There was the news broadcast on the cab radio: “Dear listeners, we have just received a new message. Earlier, there was a rumor that William Rowland, CEO of the Rowland Group, and Lucille Mclean, daughter of the Mclean Group, are getting married. Suddenly, John Rowland, Chairman of the Rowland Group, called off the wedding. William Rowland will not be getting married anytime soon.”

She hesitated for a second, and the back sight of that man flashed through her mind. Yes! That was the CEO of the Rowland Group. She had seen him in a magazine.

Both the rich and the poor had their own problems. Life was like a box of chocolates, and you never know what you’re going to get. She, once again, put her hand on her belly. A family was growing in her!

Seven months later.

In the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the hospital.

“Celia, I’m going crazy!”. Sherry, who was covered in sweat from the pain, clutched her friend Celia’s hand. She couldn’t help but cry out, “God, that hurts.”

“Hang on, Sherry! The doctor said the baby is about to come out. Don’t be afraid, I’ll be here waiting for you! Think of your adorable baby, be strong and push the baby out! Okay?”. Celia was very worried about her, so she encouraged her all the way to the delivery room with the nurses.

An hour later, a loud scream came from the delivery room. Celia clasped her hands together and prayed, “Jesus, at last!”.

The doctor opened the door and removed his mask: “Both mother and baby are fine. It’s a boy, three and a half kilos.”

“Thank you, doctor!”. Celia curtsied because she was very moved and wanted to thank the doctor for Sherry, “Thank you…”.

“Go see your friend, she’s a strong girl”. The doctor left with a smile.

Sherry looked pale as she was wheeled into the patient room. Tears swirled in her eyes, “Celia, it’s a boy, isn’t it, I finally have a family!”.

“Yes, Sherry, you have a boy, a beautiful boy. When you can get out of bed, we’ll see him, together!”.

“I want to see him right now. I saw him in the delivery room, and he was so lovely!”. Love showed on Sherry’s face.

“Did you name him?” Celia smiled, “Just so we’re clear, he’s my godson.”

“Of course, your godson, my boy!”. They both laughed, and it was such a touching scene, “How about Daniel Murray? And Dan as his nickname.”

“That’s a good name. I have a godson named Dan.” Celia smiled and affirmed.

But just then, at that moment, a nervous nurse ran up to them and said, “Ms. Murray, your baby is missing!”

“What?” Sherry felt as if she was struck by lightning, “Why isn’t my baby here?”

“Four men in black suits came, and they dropped this off. They said you knew why!”. The nurse passed her an envelope.

“Ah!” Sherry took the letter in her trembling hand. She opened it and there was a check for five million. There was also a printed letter. One look at that, made her face pale even more. She let out a piercing cry, “No!”.

Celia took the letter. She too was shocked, “How can this happen?”.

“He found me Celia, he is my son, my son.” Tears covered Sherry’s face. Her body couldn’t take the fact and collapsed.

“Sherry, I’ll help you, we’re going to replace him!”. Celia hugged her tightly, trying to give her comfort, only to replace that Sherry was cold from head to toe, “Sherry, you have to be strong. Don’t scare me.”

“I want my baby, I don’t want the money. I want my Dan, my baby boy.” Sherry screamed so loudly that, a moment later, she could only wail like a wounded kitten. She curled up on the bed, feeling helpless…..
