Chapter 7:

“Celia, I missed you so much! You look even prettier today, I’m sure there are a lot of men trying to date you.” Daniel hugged Celia and planted a big kiss on her cheek.

“Oh, it always feels good to receive your affection, let me give you a big kiss too!”. Immediately after saying that, Celia walked over to Daniel and imprinted her red lipstick on his soft, little cheeks.

Sherry was looking at her son’s face with the lipstick stain on it and laughed, “Alright Daniel, get downstairs now or Celia will have a wardrobe malfunction.”

“Mommy, does ‘wardrobe malfunction’ mean someone will see me naked?

Then I exposed myself earlier too, some guy saw my little penis.” As Daniel spoke, he began to get more anxious.

Celia was stunned and quickly reached down to take Daniel by the hand, then patted Sherry on the shoulder and said, “What are you teaching our son, he’s going to be a boy who can get into big mischief! How old he is and he already understands what ‘Wardrobe malfunction’ means!”

“Why don’t you two stay here? It’s empty anyway and you don’t have to pay rent, there’s no need to feel bad about it. But if you really do, then, you can always invite me over for a little dinner, OK?”.

“Celia, I really want to thank you, if it wasn’t for you all these years, I wouldn’t even know what to do!”. Sherry looked around the 2 bedroom apartment and felt grateful from the bottom of her heart.

“Really, there’s no need to be so stubborn, why don’t you use the money?”. Celia didn’t understand why Sherry never touched the five million, That’s the money she received in exchange for losing her son!

“I don’t want to use the money that came from the sale of my son, I owe him enough, to this day I don’t even know where he is, if I used that money, I would be a cold blooded mother.” Sherry laughed bitterly.

That was the most painful part of her memories, the kind of pain she could never forget.

“Okay, then, don’t overthink it, you don’t need to spend it, but I think Daniel looks more and more like you, except for his eyes, but his little cheeks, his nose, his lips, they all look like you! Now this is fate, you didn’t raise him for nothing.” Celia thought that Daniel really did look like Sherry, if she wasn’t inside and knew, she wouldn’t have known that this child was adopted.

“Yes, Daniel and I really were destined to meet.” Sherry could only allow herself to really laugh when she talked about her son Daniel. All these years she had been through so much, what with graduating from college and raising him.

“Tomorrow you’re going for an interview at the Rowland Group, you should get ready.” Celia turned her head to look at Daniel who was dozing on the couch, “I’ll take Daniel to another kindergarten, you just need to concentrate on your interview. The Rowland Group is a great company, if you get the job, your life and Daniel’s life will change.”

“Thank you, Celia.”

“Stop that.” Celia patted Sherry’s shoulders, “I’ll leave you two, rest well.”

“Yes!” Sherry affirmed.

The next day, at Rowland Group headquarters:

“I heard you came back yesterday in coach class?”. A man in a black suit was leaning back on the couch, his eyes staring at the person sitting at the boss’s desk.

“There were no seats left in first class.” The man replied quietly, with the words he let out some smoke that now surrounded and covered him, only his eyes were still visible.

Otherwise he would not have been able to make it to today’s interview. He had been on a business trip for over a week, and returned with a bunch of signed contracts, and yet William did not rest, but was at the company, ready to personally interview the new staff.

“You haven’t seen her?”

“Liam!”. Suddenly, a man’s voice was heard, low and cold, with a warning sound. Just hearing the name alone held no emotion, but Liam knew he was angry.

“Okay, I’ll shut up.” With a small chuckle, Liam’s hand holding his cigarette trembled slightly, “I’ll go out and check for pretty women today, and maybe, I’ll catch one or the other.”

William sucked on his cigarette and his expression darkened, making him look even more treacherous.
