“No! You’re not!”. He felt so much pain in his heart, the sad feeling rolling in William’s eyes, “You’re a good boy, not a wild child, it’s all my fault, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have joked with your mother, let’s go ask her, she’ll tell you that you’re her son!”.

“Daniel?” Sherry ran to them and saw that William was holding him in his arms, covered in cobwebs, and the little face had tears all over it, and his hands were clutching William’s neck, sobbing, “I’m not your son, I’m not!”.

“Daniel,” Sherry ran to him, and grabbed him, “Son, I was wrong, of course you are my son, I only have you, you can’t leave me like this!”.

William turned his face away, his heart was shaking, not only Daniel, Samuel was his son too! But how was he going to tell her with everything that was going on?

William didn’t expect tears to run down his cheeks. He shook his head and hugged them both tightly, “Let’s go home, you’ll catch a cold!”.

“Mom, don’t cry, Mom, I’ll be good! But you can’t leave me either, I’ll be a good boy!”. Daniel wrapped his arms around Sherry’s neck, his tears fell on her shoulders, they were warm, so much so that his heart fluttered.

“Son… Mom will never leave you, and you shouldn’t leave me either, okay? Mom won’t survive without you.” Sherry pressed Daniel against herself, she didn’t want to let go again.

Only then did Sherry see her own state, “Daniel, let’s go home and take a shower, I’ll help you!”.

William pressed his lips together and took Daniel in his arms, then they went to the bathroom.

“Mommy, you won’t leave me, will you?”. After the shower, Daniel was lying on the bed in dry clothes, Sherry had also showered and was holding him in her arms.

The two of them were leaning on each other.

“I only have you, I only need you!”. Sherry hugged him tightly.

“But I’m not your son, it’s because I wasn’t a good boy, so my parents didn’t want me anymore!”. His voice was so low she could barely hear him.

Daniel was her life, he was so smart, so adorable, the moment she found him in the river loop, she knew that boy was hers, she would never give him to anyone.

She still remembered that night, she had been looking for her own child for a month with no results, she wanted to commit suicide, life had no meaning for her anymore. But then, at that moment, she saw that baby lying on the stones by the river.

His eyes were so bright, so big, he wasn’t crying, and when he saw Sherry, he smiled. In that moment, she felt as if someone had planted a seed in her, she saw hope again, her life wasn’t so dark anymore!

He was premature, compared to other children, he was very intelligent, he started walking when he was only 10 months old, he could say “mama” at 11 months, and by the time he was one year old, he could speak complete sentences.

When she was 18 months old, she could express her own feelings, she could read the expressions on one’s face, and she knew how to be very good when Sherry was tired, she never screamed or cried, when she saw other children’s toys, she would just look at them, but never say anything, then she would take their hand and say, let’s go home!

I would take a towel to wipe her sweat off, be by her side when she was sick, watch her injections and tell the nurse to change her medication. When he was about two years old, he was already such a good boy!

Sherry pulled the blanket over him and left the bedroom. On her way out, she saw William in the doorway, he was wrapped in a towel, but his chest was bare, she paused, he was too close to her, and it stifled the mood.

“I’m sorry!” She apologized, “Sherry, I didn’t know this would happen!”.

“Mr. Rowland, in the future, we should pretend we don’t know each other, okay?”. She didn’t want to have contact with him again, she didn’t want to have such bad tension again.

“Why?” William was panicking, his hair stuck to his forehead, it wasn’t dry yet, his face was pale, even his lips, his breathing was rapid, his nose seemed to be stuffed up.

He had scratches on his neck that were bleeding slightly, it looked like fingernails! She must have hurt him in the tangle, she hit him, and he never stopped her, he just let her hit him!

But, he was the reason Daniel ran away, she felt guilty for hurting him, but she couldn’t forgive him, if it wasn’t for him forcing her to answer his questions, she would never have said all that.

“It’s still raining, you can stay here and leave tomorrow morning!”. She said quietly, then turned and walked into Daniel’s bedroom.

William’s gaze followed her, his eyes glowing deeply with a thick light.

Sherry didn’t know when William had left, but when she woke up in the morning, he was already gone, the tracksuit was hanging on the balcony.

Daniel was very quiet on the road when Sherry sent him to the nursery.

Sherry knew that after what she had heard the night before, he had lost his sense of security, he had been having nightmares all night, and she felt as if her heart was being stabbed. When they reached the door, Daniel lowered his head.

“Baby, I’ll pick you up after work, you don’t have to stay over anymore, I’ll pick you up every day from now on!”. Sherry gave him a kiss on the cheek, “Okay?”.

“Mom!” Daniel looked at her, as if he wanted to say something.

Sherry felt a pang in her heart, she hugged him tightly, “I have to go to work, you’re my baby, you always will be!”.

“Bye, Mom!”. Daniel kissed Sherry on the cheek, then released her, but she could see he wasn’t happy, he didn’t smile again.

“Leon, about yesterday…”. Sherry didn’t even finish her sentence before Leon fell on her words.

“Sherry, yesterday William already called to take a day off for you. Everything is fine, this is a good thing, we only served him this week, have you guys talked about the dishes yet?”. Leon was a smart person, he didn’t ask any details, because if William called, then something must have happened, because Sherry used to be his secretary.

Sherry stated, “Yes, it’s been discussed, I’ll tell the chef right now!”.

“Okay!” Leon stated, then smiled, “Sherry, I know you are smart, Celia has been praising you all the time, I know you had some tough times, and you learn very quickly. “Welcome Sir! Is this your first time eating at our restaurant, do I need to introduce you to our menu and service?”. Sherry smiled kindly at him as if he were a stranger.

He was a little surprised, Shit, she was really going to go through with this!
