The moment that marked us -
Chapter 71
Chapter 71:.
“…”. Sherry was stunned. She looked at him smiling meaningfully and felt her legs go weak.
She suddenly lowered her head, trying to avoid eye contact with him.
At this moment, she wished she could be invisible and go her separate ways with this person.
“I’m sorry, sir. We don’t have that service in our restaurant.”
“Really? Where’s your manager?”. said William coolly, heading to the second floor.
Sherry was surprised, but didn’t follow him.
Miss Finch came down the stairs and saw Sherry standing alone, frowning in confusion and bewilderment. “Sherry, why didn’t you greet our guest?”
William paused, and Miss Finch greeted him with a smile, “You’ve been here before, Sir. You’re a friend of our boss! This way, please.”
“Oh! Madam, I want to have a cup of coffee prepared by this lady downstairs, is this request too much?”. William said with a firm tone, “Should I call Leon?”.
“Sir, this request is not too much. Sherry, what are you waiting for? This gentleman wants to have his coffee.” urged Miss Finch. A lobby manager had to satisfy customers, as long as it wasn’t sexual. It wasn’t an easy job – you can’t offend any guest!
William put his hands in his pockets nonchalantly, “Okay! I’m going up first.”
“Sir, are you alone?” Miss Finch asked with a smile.
“Yes!”. William replied in a one-word, gravelly voice. He then turned and looked at Sherry with his deep eyes.
Sherry had no choice but to make a cup of coffee and served William’s table herself. Meanwhile, Leon also learned that William was here. He immediately left the office to see him.
From a distance, Leon burst out laughing, “William! How does a big boss like you have time to come here?”
William stirred his coffee and smiled, “I’ve come to pay you a visit!”.
Sherry saw Leon approaching and turned to leave. William shouted, “Miss!”.
“Sherry!” Leon saw that Sherry was about to leave when he turned, “Sherry, didn’t you used to work at Rowland’s before? You and Mr. Rowland discussed the details of yesterday’s banquet. I assume you already knew about it.”
“No! We don’t!”. said Sherry stiffly.
William sat up suddenly, a playful smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He wore a classic black suit. He was six feet tall, but looked tall even when seated. His playful smile and deep-set eyes made people uncomfortable.
Sherry lowered her head unconsciously.
It seemed his dominant vibe was born with him. He kept looking at Sherry. When her gaze shifted, a hint of trembling made people shiver from head to toe.

Leon was startled. Then he realized he looked a little uncomfortable between Sherry and William.
“Yes, it seems this young lady has worked for our company, but I don’t think I’ve met her before,” William looked at her. Sherry already felt nervous in front of him.
She stood up next to the table. She was about to speak, but ended up saying nothing. In the end, she nodded her head.
I don’t know him. I don’t know him. I’ve never met him!” Sherry cried in her heart.
“Haven’t you two met before?” Leon was puzzled for a second, “Shame on you!”
But for some reason, he sensed that things between Sherry and William were not as simple as they seemed. Was he overthinking things? Leon was even more intrigued now – it felt strange to be intrigued like this! He had to stop being so curious.
“Sir, Mr. Hickman. will you excuse me if that’s all?”. Sherry said politely and aloofly.
“Wait, pretty lady!”. William said suddenly. Her heart was beating fast as she turned around in fright.
She was frightened and couldn’t help but scold William countless times in her heart. However, she had to look up and ask with a polite smile, “What else can I do for you, sir?”
William curved his lip, “That’s fine. Your coffee was very nice.”
“Thank you!” Sherry thanked him politely, “Can you excuse me now?”. William’s eyes showed signs of great coldness, but all the while he was holding back the growing anger. He set down the coffee cup as he gave a glance at the woman beside him. She pretended to be a stranger to him.
Leon sensed that something was wrong. And suddenly it seemed to him that he was here at the wrong time. Was it possible for him to escape? When the two of them looked at each other angrily, Leon ran away!
The strangest thing was that neither of them noticed!
There had to be something between them! Something unusual!
“Excuse me, I’d like to order a steak! Medium rare, please!”. William said.
“Sure!” Sherry blinked her beautiful eyes and smiled “Wait a minute, Sir!”.
Sherry called over to the waiter taking the order, “This gentleman will take your order, Please tell him what you need!”.
“I want him to take my order!”. William became stubborn.
“William Rowland!”. Sherry suddenly gave him an angry look. She wouldn’t have called him that if she wasn’t really irritated. But she was out of line, AND it had only been a day since they’d had a fight!
William was a little dissatisfied with the way she had addressed him. He cupped his chin with one hand as he looked at her with interest, “Well, Miss. Do I know you?”
Sherry blushed. This man was the devil’s ghost.
He pretended to be innocent. Damn it, now she seemed to be the insensitive one!
Seeing her silent, William said to the waiter next to her, “You can go now, miss. I’ll have a steak.”
“Good!” It seemed strange to the waiter, but he couldn’t take his eyes off William’s handsome face. It was the first time he had seen such a handsome and powerful man. But he didn’t know the relationship between him and Sherry.
Sherry frowned for a second and regained her composure right away.
She looked at him calmly and said, “Bon appetit, Sir. I’m going downstairs.”
“Since you know my name, may I know yours?” He said as she was about to leave again.
Sherry suddenly felt her heart beating rapidly. She had the feeling that she had been seen through as he looked at her. And they both pretended to be strangers to each other. This strange atmosphere made her feel a little uncomfortable.
What’s the matter?
“Sir, our restaurant does not have such a service. Please enjoy your meal.” Sherry turned and walked away. She was worried that she would spill her coffee all over herself if she didn’t leave.
William smiled nonchalantly. His eyes fell on the figure hiding behind the pillar.
Leon knew there was nowhere to hide, so he stepped closer, “Are you in love with Sherry, William?”
William leaned against the back of the chair, held the coffee cup and took a sip. However, his gaze was like an eagle’s, focusing on Sherry’s back as she flew away, as if she were prey.
The masculine charm was visible in the momentum emanating from him.
“I don’t know her!” He blinked and said to Leon.
“…”. Leon was speechless.
“Why did you have to open a restaurant? You could have been the CEO.” William changed the subject.
Leon faked a smile and raised his eyebrows slightly, “Hobby!”.
“The name of the restaurant is Waiting! Who are you waiting for?”.
“It’s just a name!” Leon curved his lips and sat down across from him, “Waiting is a kind of suffering. Waiting is a kind of helplessness. I don’t know what the future will be, so waiting is a kind of hope. There were too many memories, but I’m also looking forward to a better, sweet future!”.
“When did you get so poetic?”. William stirred the coffee. Black coffee. I haven’t had it in days.
“I hear they’re having a blind date banquet this Saturday?”.
“Who said that?”
“Dude!”
“Then there might be one!”. William curved his lips, and looked around unconsciously for a figure. He saw her leading a group of people to the second floor. The look on her face seemed complicated.
“Your son is going to have a stepmother!”. Leon sighed, “Poor kid!”.
“Not necessarily!” William took a leisurely sip of coffee, “Have you found the boy’s mother?”. Leon looked interested. “Who is the boy’s mother?”.
“A woman!” William held the handle of the cup as he smiled meaningfully. He pursed his lips – the coffee smelled so sweet!
“I know it’s a woman. Men can’t give birth!” replied Leon with irritation. Whenever he talked about Samuel’s mother, William acted like a fool.
“Shouldn’t you go about your business, Mr. Hickman?”.
“I grow more and more suspicious of the target you’re eating here!”. Leon gave Sherry a meaningful glance from a distance, then smiled, “Maybe I should let Sherry have a day off on Saturday!”.
“You can if you don’t want your restaurant to go out of business!”. said William with a grin.
“Are you threatening me?” Leon raised an eyebrow.
“It’s possible!”.
“Okay! I was going to skip the banquet. Looks like I have to go to your place!”. Leon stood up and shrugged, “Take your time and enjoy yourself, William. I have to go.”
“Lend her to me for half a day!”. William said slowly.
“Who?” Leon played dumb.
“You’d better say yes if you want to live!”. Suddenly, a toothpick jabbed into Leon’s leather shoes.
“Hey! I just bought these shoes!”. Leon lowered his head and cried.
“You should feel lucky it wasn’t your foot!”. Meanwhile, William’s steak approached. He gracefully picked up the knife and fork and began to eat.
Leon saw that the toothpick was right between the leather shoes and his instep. It wasn’t in the meat, phew, what a relief, “William! You have to pay for my shoes.”
“Would you like another?” William’s tone sounded ordinary. He lifted his wrist to look at the time, “I want you to leave with me in ten minutes! Find someone else to fill in for your shift this afternoon!”.
“What a bossy man!” Leon sighed and asked the person next to him to replace Sherry.
“What is it, Mr. Hickman?” Sherry worried that William was looking for a fight again when she saw William from a distance.
“Sherry!” Leon suddenly didn’t know how to speak. Why did he feel like he was forcing a woman to prostitute herself? He was a restaurant owner, not a pimp. Why did he feel like he wasn’t running a restaurant but a brothel?
“Well?”
“Mr. Howland is asking for your help! You don’t have to work this afternoon.” Leon quickly wrapped up and looked at William, “William, are you all right?”.
Before either of them could speak, Leon said, “I have to go now, and I’ll leave it to you!”.
“Mr. Hickman!”. Sherry was stunned, then looked at William angrily. Without a word, she turned and walked away.
William said nothing and continued eating. But he seemed to be in a good mood.
Sherry ignored him and went back to the lobby, but she felt nervous.
How can I stop this man from chasing me?
The restaurant business was going well. It quieted down after a group of people left. Sherry was standing in the lobby, talking to a customer. –
