She suddenly forgot how to cook with him around. She got nervous. The pan got hot, but she forgot to turn on the cooker hood and chop the vegetables. He quickly put out the fire, “Watch out, you almost started a fire!”.

Sherry came to her senses and said, “Come on out, I can manage on my own.”

She was nervous and uncomfortable by his presence and even forgot how to fry the vegetables.

“I’ll help you! The vegetables haven’t been cut, what are you thinking?”. William was puzzled and looked at her. He reached over to cut the cucumber, but it was too small and his hands were too big. They were too slippery when he grabbed them. He didn’t know how to cut them either. When he cut, the cucumber simply snapped in two.

“I’ll do it!” Sherry looked at his clumsy actions and couldn’t imagine that he was a venerable businessman in the industry. Looking at his hands, it was clear he never did chores and commented that everyone had their strengths and merits.

William frowned, “It looks easy, but why can’t I just cut it off?”

“How do you want them cut?” She asked.

“Sliced.” He said and handed her the knife.

“Good!”. She placed the cucumber down and started slicing it.

He took a look at the cucumber, which began to be sliced thinly by her lively hands. He was amazed at how nimble her hands were.

His heart ached as he thought of her returning the whole 7.5 million yuan to him and asked, “Do you like doing housework?” Saying so, he gave a glance at the tidy apartment which reinforced his opinion.

She was stunned, stopped and placed the cucumber slices on the plate, and replied, “Yes, somewhat.”

After saying this, she felt strange about their interaction. She was fine with them not fighting.

Sherry smiled as she looked at him, “You’ve never done housework, have you?”.

He laughed immediately and was even more charming than before. Sherry was stunned when she caught a glimpse of his smile. This man was dangerously handsome and dashing. She quickly lowered her head and began to blush.

He looked at her intently, “You cut them up real nice!”.

“Erm!”. She fidgeted and looked him straight in the eyes. They were both stunned and didn’t know they had fallen into each other’s hearts.

He suddenly laughed and she came to herself and lowered her head.

“You must be very happy tonight.” He said.

“Of course!” She was definitely happy to have finally found her son and continued, “I’ll be very happy every day as long as you don’t hide Sammy from me.”

“Oh yeah?” She was startled and pondered deeply.

He suddenly felt the conversation very strange, as if they had known each other for a long time. He even felt that something was abnormal. Normally, she didn’t like to talk much, especially in front of “strangers”. But when she was with him, she kept getting angry. Before he knew about his relationship with her, he already had these inexplicable mood swings.Strangers?

She looked at William and wondered if he was a stranger.

She felt her face heat up and realized that she must be blushing.

She quickly lowered her gaze to hide her sudden embarrassment and quickly said, “You won’t hide it from me, right?”.

She stared at her face and wondered why her face suddenly turned so red. The pair of red cheeks struck a chord with him again. He didn’t like that kind of feeling. Only once had he had those feelings for Lucy. but Lucy was gone, gone, gone! He took a deep breath and felt he needed a smoke.

“I won’t hide it from you!”. He declared as if it were a promise to her.

“Thank you!” She looked up and thanked him sincerely. The lights shone on her face and her fair complexion revealed two round red spots. Her eyes were clear, content and serene.

She started frying vegetables and making cucumber soup with egg. The dishes were simple but beautiful.

He continued to glance at her in silence. She handed him the dishes and said, “Take them to the dining table.”

“Okay!” He did as he was told.

The next morning, William sent the children off to school and daycare and Sherry went to work.

William slept alone in Dan’s little bed while Sherry slept with the children. He was very happy to have two children for the first time.

The television on the public bus was broadcasting the news. Sherry happened to sit under the TV and didn’t think anything of it at first. But when she heard that “the Rowland Group CEO’s authority had been removed and William was no longer CEO.” she was shocked.

Why was he no longer the CEO of the Rowland Group?

The scene turned to William facing the reporters. William was calm and composed as he frowned tightly and said, “No comment!”.

Sherry gaped.

At that point, the reporter explained that it was because William had refused his arranged marriage to Jones Chemical Corp and had infuriated his father. In his anger, Old Master Rowland rescinded William’s status as his successor. William even told the media that he would never marry.

It was as if Sherry’s brain exploded. Was this the reason he had said he would never marry? She continued to stare at his imposing body surrounded by numerous reporters. She didn’t dare think anymore! Changing the successor? Sherry gaped and didn’t realize the bus had reached the last stop.

Sherry was taken aback – where was she? Sherry paid again and took the same bus back.

She called William’s phone, but no one answered. Sherry immediately became nervous. What was he doing now? Why wasn’t he answering her call? She called back after a while and still no answer.

Sherry texted, “Are you okay?”. She was worried after she sent the message. To think that something so big happened yesterday. Was her father the reason she didn’t want to get married? Was it true when the reporter said William would never get married?

He even said that, other than the marriage certificate, he could give him anything! Was it because he was helpless and had to choose that kind of arrangement?

When she thought about this, Sherry’s heart suddenly ached and her hands clenched. He thought about how he felt hurt when he saved her after her phone was stolen. She suddenly became very sad.

He called Leon to request a leave of absence and not to work that day. He knew it wasn’t appropriate to keep asking for leave, but at that moment he just wanted to see William and ask him if it was because of his father that he didn’t want to get married. Sherry called Liam just as he got off the bus. It was the first time she had called Liam, “Liam, had they really replaced the CEO of the Rowland Group?” He felt his voice tremble as he asked.

“Yes! Is he in the office?”.

“He’s not here. I don’t know where he is.” Liam’s voice sounded dejected.

“Oh, thank you, Liam. Bye.” She quickly ended the call as she realized she had received a message.

Her heart skipped a beat as she opened the message, for it was from William. There were only the words, I’m fine.

But, somehow, she felt the reply was forced. She quickly called his phone, but he didn’t answer. She quickly sent another message.

Sherry: Where are you, I’ll come get you.

After a long pause, he answered.

William: No need!

He turned her down! Sherry’s heart was racing and she didn’t know why she was so worried about him. Her heart seemed to be tied up and she wanted to see him so she could ask him personally if he was okay.

But where was he?

Sherry suddenly realized that she didn’t understand William. Even though she had a son with him, even though they were once colleagues, she didn’t understand anything about him.

Was he at the MH residence or at Villa No. 15?

She decided to replace him regardless. She could not stand idly by and wait for him.

The car stopped at the MH residence. It was not easy for her to get into the high-end residential complex. Sherry spent a long time explaining to the guards before they let her in. She only had fifteen minutes and she had to leave if she couldn’t replace him.

“William! Where are you?” He shouted.

His voice echoed in the huge room and he suddenly felt very cold. The Villa was huge, it felt unwelcoming and cold.

“Why are you here?” Suddenly, a tired voice said quietly from behind her.
