Chapter 13:

When Rafael read the message he was beside himself with joy and happiness. He was glad that finally the marriage was together and they had a chance. He was finally going to have his beloved great-grandchildren.

He immediately made a call and ordered Hugo’s transfer to the headquarters, it was impossible for anyone to deny Rafael anything, because in addition to being the former president, he had the majority of the shares of the Moretti Group, that was one of the reasons why Hugo obeyed his grandfather.

Rafael had thought in multiple occasions to transfer the shares to his grandson, but if he did it then he would not have anything to blackmail him with, so he still kept the shares, although all the decisions were taken by his grandson.

Hugo received the report of his hasty transfer that same night and immediately knew that his grandfather had something to do with it, what he did not imagine was the mastermind behind this plot. Hugo arrived early the next morning at the company as usual, attended to pending matters and signed documents an hour later the secretary knocked on the door.

“Mr. Moretti, we have a situation in the lobby and we require your authorization to act and Alejandro asked me to speak to you first.” the secretary spoke nervously.

“What’s going on? And speak quickly Laura, I don’t have all day”.

“Sir, at the reception there is a woman who claims to be your wife, she came early in the morning, security sent her away but she keeps coming back.

We wanted to know if we should call the police.”

“Call them ” Hugo didn’t hesitate for a second when he ordered. If this was how that woman wanted to play, he would play along.

When Laura left the office, Hugo closed the window he had open on his computer monitor and turned on the company’s security cameras. Indeed, as Laura had informed him, Sara was at the reception, she was dressed as she usually did, pants, sweater and sneakers, and her hair was tied up in a high ponytail. A carefree outfit, but one that made her look young and charming.

His grandfather didn’t lie to him when he told him that his wife was beautiful, but apparently he forgot to mention the rebellious and unpredictable part. Hugo didn’t understand what was going on in that woman’s head now, why she had shown up out of the blue at the company, when in three years of marriage she had never even contacted him before.

Fifteen minutes later the police arrived and took her out of the company. Hugo removed the camera and called Alejandro. The latter was aware of what had happened and rushed to the office with a folder in his hands.

“Did you replace out what I asked for” Hugo spoke without any emotion on his face.

“Yes sir” replied Alejandro opening the folder and placing some documents on the table.

“These are the transfers that you have made to your wife every month for the last three years” and then putting another sheet of paper he added “and this is the money in the bank account. Your wife has not touched a euro of what you have given her in the last three years, all the money is still there”.

Hugo said nothing, he remained silent analyzing and then spoke again.

“And the Villa, did you sell it or do you live there”.

“Neither sir, the villa still belongs to her, but she doesn’t live there, she lives in one of the dorm rooms. She shares a room with a girl named Emily, apparently they are very close. Other than Emily he is only known to have one other friend and he is the youngest son of the Bianchi Family.”

“Does my grandfather have any other accounts for him, does he give him more money, what does he live on?”

“No sir, her grandfather doesn’t know what she doesn’t take his money, the University awarded her a full scholarship for her good grades and she also has a part time job or two.”

“That’s fine, you can retire.”

Alejandro said nothing more and walked out of the office leaving Hugo in thought. He always thought his wife had agreed to the marriage for money, but apparently that’s not the case.

Maybe she has a lover to support her, he thought, but what kind of lover would take care of a woman and not have sex with her. She must not be a lover either.

Who are you Sara and what are you planning?

Hugo was always good for business, he knew how to judge people and he always won. He also liked to be prepared for battles, he knew that the better you know your enemy the more likely you are to win, because you are able to replace his weak points. After seeing the information on the table, Hugo understood that he had everything to lose, since he knew nothing about his wife, but she knew everything about him. This would not be an easy fight and it seemed that his opponent was not easy at all.
