While all the guests were entertaining and the staff busy a man with a bouquet of roses in his hands slipped into the kitchen unseen.

Inside it was a completely different world from the elegant party going on outside, the employees came out with full trays while others came in with others full of dirty dishes, the cooks ran from one side to the other preparing the ingredients while Beatriz ordered from the center various functions, she didn’t speak to anyone specifically just shouted asking for things, but between them they understood each other.

Tobias had never in his life been in a kitchen and seeing all that hustle and bustle seemed dazzling, besides Beatriz, she no longer seemed like the shy girl he met at the Bar, she had a dominant voice and did not ask for things delicately, she was the queen in the kitchen and her subjects obeyed all her orders.

He had been idiotic watching how Beatriz was performing in her territory and did not notice that he was in the middle of the aisle where the waiters were walking, suddenly a girl came in with a tray full of plates and did not see where she was walking so she collided with Tobias and all the plates fell to the floor breaking and filling Tobias and the waitress with leftovers.

The clatter caught everyone’s attention including Beatriz who when she looked up from the plate she was serving found Tobias on the floor, with a plate on his head while a green sauce ran down his face, she fought against all her strength not to laugh and trying to sound as serious as possible she said.

“Pick up that mess and get to work, there is a lot to do.”

Beatriz asked her assistant to finish doing the dish for her and walked over to Tobias to help him.

“You shouldn’t be here.”

“I just wanted to congratulate you on your great day, I tasted the food and it was delicious.”

“Thank you, but you should go and change, wash your clothes soon or they might stain.”

“That’s not important, here, I brought you this.” Tobias handed her the bouquet of roses, but he also had some leftover food.

“Thank you now go away.”

“Why do you keep throwing me out? I can’t believe you took Sara’s words to heart, don’t walk away from me.”

“Look Mr. Tobias I don’t want to sound rude, but you and I don’t have to be close and I’m not interested in being close to you either, I know that right now you may feel some interest in me and I’m flattered by that, but I also know the kind of man you are, and I want you to be clear that I’m not going to sleep with you, so you can desist and avoid wasting your time. Thank you for the flowers and I hope I never see you here again.”

Having finished speaking Beatriz turned around and went back to her work, Tobias stood up and left the kitchen, Beatriz’s words did not scare him away at all, on the contrary, they motivated him to continue pursuing her.
