The day of the date finally arrived and Hugo spent the night getting ready to meet Sara, but the hours passed and she never showed up, for his part he didn’t enjoy the evening at all, the girl who accompanied him only knew how to talk about brand clothes, luxuries, vacations, taking pictures with her phone and chatting. He had never spent a night so boring, when they finally finished dinner he accompanied her to his car and felt happy that it was over.

When he returned to his own car Alejandro was waiting for him, Hugo felt a little guilty for having distrusted him, after all Alejandro had been by his side for many years and had never given him reason to distrust him. Hugo felt so bad that he was not able to look his secretary in the face and ended up telling him that he was going to drive, that he could leave now.

Alejandro did not think much about it and immediately left before he changed his mind, when he arrived home he called Nadia and told her that everything had gone well, they talked for a while, but before hanging up he asked her.

“Why didn’t Mistress Sara try to prevent the last appointments? She shouldn’t risk it.” Nadia laughed.

“The lady knows what she is doing, the girls on the dates, are the last ones on the list, the ones that have nothing compatible with Señor Hugo, so she has nothing to worry about, besides if all the dates were cancelled it would look very suspicious and it would put you in danger, the lady doesn’t want to put you in a complicated situation, so she came up with a plan to not put your job at risk.”

After hanging up the call Alejandro thought about what Nadia had told him, he knew that Sara was a good person, but he had never expected her to be so intelligent and considerate, he thought about his boss and his intelligence, if those two had children they would be geniuses, Alejandro knew that his boss was still in love with Sara, but he was too proud to admit it, Alejandro had experienced Hugo’s mood swings and he knew for sure that the time he was with Sara was when he was happier and calmer.

That night Alejandro made the decision to continue helping Sara, not only because he had less work or his life was easier, but for Sara and Hugo, to see them happy and together, to save their marriage.

A week later Hugo had already given up with the blind dates, he saw no sense in continuing with the charade of wanting a wife when in reality he had only done it to annoy Sara, he had not met her again by chance and he was beginning to wonder if the sudden interest she had shown for him was already over, that thought left a bad bitter taste in his throat, he did not know why, but a part of him liked the idea of her pursuing him.

So, after a meeting with Alejandro, he asked her how the project they had with the Sapphire Company was going. Alejandro knew how to read between the lines so he limited himself to give details exclusively about the project, without letting him know anything about Sara. Hugo listened to his secretary feigning interest in the work in the hope of some mention of his adored tormentor, but there was nothing, the disappointment was evident on his face, until finally Alejandro added:

“In two weeks will be the inauguration of the new cell phone model in which we worked with the Sapphire Company, well, in which we invested, because in fact they already had all the work done, even the betas tests, they only lacked capital to launch the model to the international market. Anyway, first there will be a press conference here at the company and then the celebration will take place at the Imperial Hotel.”
