Chapter 93:

Hugo nodded and dismissed his secretary feigning disinterest in the information.

Hugo knew he shouldn’t be in awe of Sara’s intelligence, he knew he shouldn’t be in awe of her accomplishments, but still he couldn’t help but feel in awe of all she could do.

The days passed and Hugo continued without seeing Sara or hearing from her, he wondered what kind of game she was playing, once again he felt used and stupid for having any hope, he concentrated on work and tried to forget anything related to his beloved torment, although it was not an easy task having the inauguration of the new project so close.

Finally the expected day arrived, the press conference was held and the prototype was presented, it was very well received by the media and the general public. In the evening the party would be held at the Imperial Hotel, the most expensive hotel in the country, all the media had been invited, the most important politicians, famous movie stars and any influential person in the country, all paraded down the carpet of the hotel among a sea of cameras and journalists.

Although Hugo had no desire to attend the event his presence was necessary, as president of the Moretti Group and main investor he needed to show his face at such an important event.

Despite knowing this Alejandro was forced to practically drag him, first he made him go to a beauty salon assuring him that there would be many cameras and his appearance was not favorable, then he made him change his suit for a white one with gold threads.

Hugo of course refused to wear it, he did not like so much ostentation, besides he did not know the clothes, it was normal for him to wear new clothes, but he always chose them and this was not the case.

Alejandro had to convince him again telling him that it was a brand of one of the designers of the company and he needed to give him publicity, being a job Hugo accepted with difficulty. He assured Alejandro that he would only be at the party for 1 hour and after he was seen he would leave, Alejandro agreed and they finally went out to the event that would take place on the roof of the Hotel.

Hugo hated this kind of events, he hated having to attend these parties, interacting with hypocritical people, nothing was more annoying than being surrounded by so many people who tried to fill him with empty compliments and that none of them thought.

He had been at the party for thirty seven minutes and fifteen seconds and counting, he could not wait to leave, so far he had not met Sara, but he knew it was a matter of minutes before his good luck would end, on a night like this she could not miss.

Finally, Sara’s traitorous secretary took the stand. That was how Hugo referred to her, as he couldn’t remember her name.

“Thank you very much to everyone present for attending this event, on behalf of Zafiro we would like to thank the Moretti Group for giving us this incredible opportunity, there is also someone else I would like to thank the person who founded our company from scratch, thanks to her we are here today, thanks to her intelligence and capacity, I am talking about our President, Sara Moretti”.

A burst of applause broke the silence and Hugo’s chest tightened when he heard her use her last name. A few minutes later Sara took the stage, her long black hair fell down her back, adorned by a tiara, a delicate make-up covered her face, but that was not what made the audience and Hugo lose their breath.

No, what captivated Hugo was the dress she was wearing, Sara was dressed as a bride, a beautiful and elegant white dress with gold embroidery and mermaid tail, v-neckline that reached her navel.

Hugo forgot how to breathe and couldn’t take his eyes off the beautiful woman for a second.

“Thank you again for joining us on this important night. Tonight we are here for two reasons, the first one you all already know and that is the launch of the new smart phone we created with the Moretti Group, but the second one is not of your knowledge and I want to share this information with you.”

Sara paused and looked around the audience until she found Hugo and smiled.

Hugo arched an eyebrow not understanding anything that was going on, no one had told her of two reasons for the party.

“The second reason is that today marks 6 years of my marriage to the Hugo Moretti, 6 years since we have been husband and wife in the eyes of the law and God, we were never able to celebrate our wedding, so I took this opportunity to celebrate our anniversary and our new beginning.”

The lights turned to the audience and pointed at Hugo who had been transfixed when he heard her speak.
