Chapter 94:

Hugo didn’t know if he had fallen asleep in the office or if all of this was actually happening. He had become paralyzed and his limbs refused to move, he felt like hours had passed until Sara smiled and spoke again.

“I know many of you heard rumors about our separation and there was speculation that my husband was looking for someone else, today I came to clear up those rumors and I must say that they are not true, it is true that my husband and I were estranged, but it was only because of work, I was founding a new company and I had to concentrate.

Because of that we took some time off, but that is over, I don’t intend to let work separate me from him anymore, I want to be by his side again from today until the day I take my last breath”.

Sara stepped down from the stand and walked to where Hugo was, who continued to be unable to move.

“Because you are the man of my life and I don’t want to lose you, I love you Hugo.”

Sara leaned down and on her toes kissed his lips as the night lit up with fireworks and a message appeared in the sky.

I LOVE YOU HUGO.

The audience broke into applause and congratulations and Hugo was still stiff as a statue, Sara apologized and said she would come back later, she took Hugo by the hand and dragged him to the first room with a door she saw.

When they were finally alone Hugo spoke.

“Something you said was true or this is another one of your games. Tell me if you really did this because you have feelings for me or was it just a marketing ploy for your company.”

“I love you Hugo, I have for a long time, maybe it took me a while to realize how I felt about you, but I missed you terribly these two years without you.”

A knot formed in Hugo’s stomach while Sara instead of butterflies felt a honeycomb of bees, she had spent the whole night with her nerves on edge, she was afraid of Hugo’s reaction, but now she had finally said what her heart was silent about and she felt a little freer, as if a weight was lifted off her shoulders.

“I love you Hugo” she repeated and before the last vowel was out of her mouth Hugo was already devouring her wildly.

When their lips collided it was like feeling at home again, his kiss was not delicate, no, it was wild, sweeping, charged with desire.

Sara hugged him tightly with fear that it was a dream and he escaped, while Hugo’s hands began to run all over her body, the clothes began to be left over and the heat in the room to rise, after so long without seeing each other their bodies adapted as if they were one, as if they were two parts of a whole that had been separated by force and had finally found their way back, they did not speak again, but the words were enough when their moans and caresses said everything they were feeling.

After joining their souls and bodies, they stayed embraced, lying on the floor, Sara had her head on Hugo’s chest while enjoying the rhythmic beating of his heart. They were silent, but it was not an uncomfortable silence.

“I love you too” Hugo told her and pressed her against his chest.

It took the couple a few minutes too long to get dressed and make themselves presentable again, as if the blush on Sara’s cheeks was easy to hide.

When they finally returned to the rooftop with the rest of the guests they had to separate to do their work, attend to clients, answer questions, but, although their bodies had moved away their gazes had not, and Hugo followed Sara around the room, it was like a magnet that kept attracting him.

At one point he lost sight of her because she was talking to an investor and when he looked for her he found her sitting looking at the sky, he thought of approaching her, but someone came forward, at first he didn’t know who it was because his back was turned, but then he recognized the man, it was none other than José and a bitter taste spread through his throat.

Sara felt tired after so much time on her feet working and organizing the event, the last few weeks had been torture, but that was not what had her so exhausted, it was the intimate encounter with her husband.

She had sat down for a second to rest and couldn’t help but look at the sky, she had always loved the stars, and that night they were beautiful.
